How do you get wifi

How to Get WiFi for DS

Depending on which DS you purchase, you can use the console's Wi-Fi settings to play games against other players around the world or download additional content. The Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi allows for gamers to compete with one another as long as the game being played supports these connections. The DSi features a built-in web browser as well as a store where entire games can be purchased and downloaded. In order to access these features on either console, games must first locate and connect to a wireless access point.
Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need

  • Nintendo DS or DSi
  1. Connecting with a DS or DS Lite
    • 1 Insert a game cartridge into your DS and power it on. Begin the game, and on the main menu, choose the option for setting up a Wi-Fi connection. The location of this option differs in each game, so check your game's manual for where to find this option.
    • 2 Choose "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings" from the setup screen and press "A" to select this option. Choose one of the connection spaces to use for this location. You can save up to three locations at a time.
    • 3 Select "Search for an Access Point" and press "A". On the next screen, choose the blue padlock. This is an open connection. Selecting it will connect your DS to this wireless connection.
    • 4 Return to the main menu of your game by pressing "B". You can now play games over the Wi-Fi connection.
    Connecting with a DSi
    • 1 Power on your DSi and wait until the main menu opens up. Once on the main menu, scroll until you see the "Settings" tab, which is illustrated by a wrench. Tap on it to open the menu.
    • 2 Click the right arrow until you reach the third page of the System Settings menu. On this page, select the last option, which is labeled as "Internet". Select "Connection Settings" from the next menu. This item will have an image of the DSi to the right of the option.
    • 3 Choose one of the connection boxes to set up a new Wi-Fi connection. These will have the word "None" listed. You can have up to three saved connections on the DSi at any given time.
    • 4 Tap the top box on the Connection page. This will automatically search out a wireless access point for you to use on your DSi. Choose an access point with an unlocked icon; these connections do not require an administrator password to access.
    • 5 The DSi will test the connection, after which you'll be able to play games online, download new content or browse the Internet.
Tips & Warnings
  • Not all DS games can be played online. Check the back of the game's box to see if it supports a Nintendo Wi-Fi connection
  • The Nintendo DS cannot connect to secure networks. The DSi requires a password from the administrator to connect to these networks.

I have pokemon white version & it says we do not have wifi connection when we do have it at our house. What do we need to do to make it work?

The DS Lite does in fact connect to wi-fi via a router. For example you can have a Wi-Fi battle with any random person around the world if you have wireless internet in your house on Pokemon Black or White. My thought would be that your router has an encryption type that your DS does not support. The same thing happened to me. You can first try to go to the main menu of your Pokemon game and click on the Nintendo WFC Settings. Through here try and connect to your router by entering the password you have set for your router. If this still doesn't work try taking the password off of your router via your computer and see if you can connect then. Lites will only connect to certain types of encryption passwords. I use WEP and it works fine.

Im programing my x box 360 it needs me to program the wpa net work to get this new x bow to work. im new at this expain things very clear , thanks

Follow these instructions to set up the Xbox or Xbox 360 connections to a wireless home network. These instructions assume the wireless router is already installed with a working Internet connection. If after following these instructions you are unable to network your Xbox with the wireless router, see - Connecting Xbox to Wireless Networks - Why Things Go Wrong

Here's How:
  1. Connect the appropriate wireless network adapter to the console. On the Xbox, a Wi-Fi adapter that connects to the Ethernet port (sometimes also called a wireless network bridge) must be used. Alternatively, the Xbox 360 is also designed to work with certain Wi-Fi game adapters that connect to a USB port.

  2. Turn on the console and navigate to the wireless settings screen. On the Xbox, the menu path is "Settings -> Network Settings -> Advanced -> Wireless -> Settings" On the Xbox 360, the menu path is "System -> Network Settings -> Edit Settings."

  3. Set the SSID (network name) on the Xbox to match that of the wireless router. If your wireless router has enabled SSID broadcast, the SSID name should appear pre-selected on the Xbox display. Otherwise, select the "Specify Unlisted Network" option and enter the SSID there.

  4. Specify "Infrastructure" as the Network Mode. (Infrastructure is the mode used by wireless routers.)

  5. Set the Security Type to match that of the wireless router. If your router uses WPA encryption and the type of adapter connected to the Xbox does not support WPA, you will need to change your router settings to use WEP encryption instead. Note that the standard Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter supports WPA while the standard Microsoft Xbox Wireless Adapter (MN-740) only supports WEP.
  6. Save your settings and verify the network is functional.

On the Xbox, the Wireless Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made with the wireless router, and the Connect Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made through the Internet to Xbox Live.

On the Xbox 360, use the "Test Xbox Live Connection" option instead.
Tips:
  1. Even when your wireless connection between the Xbox and the router is working perfectly, you may still experience difficulty connecting to Xbox Live. These issues can be caused by the quality of your Internet connection or the firewall and Network Address Translation (NAT) settings of your wireless router. Additional troubleshooting may be required in these areas to achieve reliable Xbox Live connections.

How do you get internet working on dsi xl

Hi,
Nintendo Dsi/DS/Ds XL connects to the internet using wireless connection. You need to know the settings of your router. I've listed below the steps on how you will access the router and to obtain the information needed for you to be connected.

How to access the Router:

1. You need to know the ipaddress of your router. You can refer to the manual or check the Default Gateway of your computer (Make sure that you connect the computer to the router using an ethernet cable for you to get the Default Gateway). Click on START then RUN. Type CMD on the small box on the lower left of the screen. Type IPCONFIG on the black window and get the value of your DEFAULT GATEWAY (it starts with 192.168.x.x)

2. Open a Browser, Type the DEFAULT GATEWAY on the address bar of your Browser. It will ask you for a username and password. (Refer to the manual of your router or post a reply so that i can provide you the username and password of your router)

3. Go to the Wireless Settings Page of your router. Look for the SSID or the Network Name and theNetwork Key or Passphrase. You can personalize it so that you can easily remeber the details.

4. Make sure you connect to your SSID and enter the Network Key to make it secure.

Now that we already know the setting of the router then its now time to connect the Dsi to the network.

1. Go to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings of the Game

2. Search for an Access Point (SSID)

3. Select your Network (SSID), If you have an open network, just click "OK" and it should work just fine! If it's a Red Padlock, it'll prompt you for a Password or Network Key. This is the reson why we access the router.

4. Test the Connection.

I would like to know what an ssid is as i am trying to connect a ds to the internet, i have the wep key

Hello,
the SSID is the name of a wireless network so it is easier to recognize. If you want to make things easy for you to connect to your wireless home network to access the internet with your DS Lite, go to your router configuration. Make sure that the SSID is set to be broadcast or visible. Make the SSID an easy name that you will remember, yet that is not too personal since everyone will be able to see it.
Then start your Nintendo DS and go to the wireless connection configuration. It will start looking for broadcast SSID and will eventually find the one of your network and list it. Select it, enter the WEP when prompted and save the connection.
You should be able to enjoy your internet connection from the DS after that.
Let me know if you encounter any issue.
Regards,

Received Nintendo DSiXL for a Christmas gift. Having trouble connecting to the internet. Asking for a security Key? ?

Under nintendo settings internet connection, scan for hot spot and unless your wireless router is unsecured you need to provide the wep security key or change the settings. Your security key is the 12-13 character password used to setup the wireless router if you secured it. If you do not have a router and your picking up a signal you will not be able to log on without the key.
