if the heating element has failed the water temperature will not reach the trigering threshold to allow the timer to advance to the next program step good luck !

The full water level will be 1/4 to 1/8 inch below the heating element. The water fills on a timed basis so the exact level depends on incoming water pressure.

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all please check the Water temperature by using a thermometer inside the dishwasher to measure the water temp. It should be as close to 125 degree F to 140 degree F as possible. Now try using the temperature boost feature if your dishwasher is equipped with this cycle feature and check if this will help your wash ability issues.

Now check the Powder soap by making sure that you store your soap in a dry environment and it is not stale and clumping together. Possibly try a different detergent like a liquid or gel. Also, make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.

To check the proper filling dishwasher will fill with water up to and around the heating element. If water is more below the heating element, you may have low water pressure or a problem with the fill valve. Try & listen if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.

For low water pressure, try to clean the screen at the entrance of the fill valve, sometimes the fill valve can fail and not allow the proper water into the dishwasher and may need to be replaced. And, check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks. Also make sure that the water is draining and is not accumulated in the dishwasher, if it is in dishwasher then check for clogged drain hoses and drain pump.

Low water fills are a very common trouble maker with today's dishwasher.

If this machine has been installed and worked for a while, are you sure nothing else has been pluged into the same circuit as the dishwasher and overloading it. If the element is actualy heating up I doubt anything is wrong with it to kick out the breaker. Check out what other stuff goes out with the breaker off.

A low water level would cause your condition. Most dishwashers have a full water level at or just below the heating element. Manually fill to that point using the sink spray hose or a container of some sort. If the pulsating sound smoothes out, then you should replace the water inlet valve. Verify the shut off valve for the dishwasher under the sink is fully open. ****If you attempt this repair, be sure to remove power from the dishwasher and shut off the water supply. If the water level was already at the heating element, then consider a blocked pump filter or bad wash impeller.

I think that the problem is the water inlet valve if the machine is not filling at all.

If the machine is not filling to the correct level, it may be the float switch.

Water level can depend on the model and manufacturer. The water will fill to the level of the float switch. This is a plastic looking thing near the front of the dishwasher along the tub bottom that looks like and upside down cup. The water level reaches a point to where the float lifts and activates a cut-off switch which will stop the water from filling, followed by the wash cycle beginning. Now, depending on where the heating element is located, the water level is usually just touching the element and not necessarilty covering it. Does this help you? Check water level:
Run the DW and wait for the main wash to start (water will fill. pause then complete fill) The water should be about 1/4 to 1/8 inch below the heating element. If not there..replace water inlet valve.
