COMPASS VARIATION ADJUSTMENT Compass variance, also known as magnetic declination, is the difference in angle between magnetic north and true geographic north. In some geographic locations, the difference between magnetic and geographic north is great enough to cause the compass to give false readings. If this problem occurs, the compass variance setting may need to be changed.
To set the compass variance:

1. Using the Variance Settings map, find your geographic location and note the zone number Figure 1.

If the compass/thermometer data is not currently being displayed, momentarily depress and release the C/T push button to reach the compass/thermometer display. 3. On Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) and Compass Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) equipped vehicles depress the Reset push button and hold the button down until "VAR = XX" appears in the display. This takes about five seconds. On Compass Temperature Module (CT) equipped vehicles depress the C/T push button and US/M push button down until "VAR = XX" appears in the display. This takes about five seconds. 4. Release the push button(s). "VAR =XX " will remain in the display. "XX" equals the current variance zone setting. 5. On Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) and Compass Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) equipped vehicles momentarily depress and release the STEP button to step through the zone numbers, until the zone number for your geographic location appears in the display. On Compass Temperature Module (CT) equipped vehicles depress the US/M push button to step through the zone numbers, until the zone number for your geographic location appears in the display. 6. On Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) and Compass Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) equipped vehicles momentarily depress and release the RESET push button to enter the displayed zone number into the EVIC/CMTC module memory. On Compass Temperature Module (CT) equipped vehicles depress the C/T push button to enter the displayed zone number into the electronic module memory. 7. Confirm that the correct directions are now indicated by the compass.

The drain is in the engine compartment passenger side coming off the fire wall.

Make sure you have selected the correct frequency range and radio band.

The bands are usually Police/Fire/Air Traffic/Marine/and Short Wave. Depending on your geographic location, you may or may not pick up transmissions.

Also try using the auto-scan feature to seacrh for chat, and adjust the squelch setting so you don''t choke out too much squawk chatter.

What are you talking about when you say area --- are you talking about geographic targeting or category targeting?

Geographic is fairly straight forward, Category is much more copmplex.

Geographic: What you need to do is get the end users IP address.. So I connect to your server - you server has my IP - which if you do a DNS lookup will tell you where I am located

From this information you can make sure American's receive America Adverts, French receive French etc...

The best source of information on this including the data you require to match an IP to a location is available from Maxmind.

Category Targeting - that is showing Car adverts to people who are interested in cars is far more complex. However, what you require is a tracking cookie (check on google) which will teel you the sites and searches people do after they have visited your site.

There are a number of companies that supply services to manage such work for you... however, this type of targeting is not only frowned upon but in some locations regarded as illegal and an invasion of privacy unless the user specifically requested the tracking cookie to be installed.

Thankfully the solution is very simple to your problem. The only way for the Garmin to accept a setting of a password is if you also define a secure geographical spot right after the PIN code setting.

If no safe place is defined, the lock will not engage and the PIN setting attempt is void. So if it is locked it means your daughter has stored a safe location as well (you just click ok so it is easy also for a 3-year old).

At this geographical spot the GPS unit will be unlocked, and you will be able to change the PIN code to your liking or remove the lock.

So all you need to do is to recollect the specific geographical place your daughter may have played with your GPS, bring it to that place and switch it on: no PIN code is asked for when you found the correct spot. You may need to wait a few minutes for the unit to locate satellites, then it should unlock.

Just in case you're still interested in a solution. Your watch uses a geographical location and the current date to estimate the sunrise and sunset times. While the date (and time) information is, most likely, set on your watch correctly, you, probably didn't specify the geographical location (latitude and longitude, as well as the GMT correction for your time zone).
