Your sub-zero 650 should produce about 8 cubes every 2 hours. It sounds like the heater beneath the ice maker may be wearing out. Ice makers use a heating mechanism to warm the cubes in the mold and force them to easily eject. If the heater is failing in the back slot, it could cause the ice cube to get stuck. If this is the case, you usually need to replace the part or the entire ice maker.
It is also possible the mechanism isn't properly aligned. You could try adjusting it.
How are the ice cubes? Are they normal size or hollow? I was wondering if some of the water was not making it into the ice maker and causing this issue. Is there any frosting issue not mentioned? Any water droplets on or around the back wall of the unit (inside)? I am a service tech certified and would like to know more about this issue. Have you cleared the drain completely, meaning after you de-iced unit, did you use water to verify the drain was cleared?
I you like to know more, so I can direct you in solving this issue.
This is the procedure but yours seems to be a faulty Icemaker and needs to be replaced since your freezer is cold enough to make ice rapidly.
Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees See if water is in icemaker. Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects. If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that attaches to water line out of wall) If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker. If its leaking same part needs replaced. The water valve at the bottom rear of fridge. Thank you for using fixya imufo2 Leo Ponder PLEASE VOTE FOR ME IF THIS WAS HELPFUL
HI.CHECK FOR WATER SUPPLY VALVE WATER PRESSURE COMMING INTO THE UNIT,AND REFRIG SELENOID VALVE,IF THE PRESSURE IS OK ,REPLACED THE ICE MAKER,,ALSO CHECK FILTER AND WATER TUBE FOR WATER LEAKS..
try replace the cheapest part first.( vater valve). you only need 2 components to make ice. water valve and ice maker.is simple and easy water valve located in the bottom part of the unit. remove the kick plate. left side. and color blue. ice maker inside the freezer. (DISCONECT POWER BEFORE SERVICE. ALSO TURN WATER SUPPLY OFF.) try main box , garage. and water meter outside your house. good luck
If your ice maker has stopped producing ice completely, check these, in this order:
It may be turned off. Look for the wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If the wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. If so, try one of these:
If your ice maker has a small red plastic lever, lower it to lower the wire.
If there's no plastic lever, simply lower the wire.
In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again. Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly.
The ice maker fill tube may be blocked with ice. If so, melt the blockage using a hair dryer-but be careful to not melt any plastic parts! Also replace the water shut-off valve or water-inlet valve, or both, if necessary.
The ice maker head assembly may have broken parts. Look to see if the gears are broken. Check to see if the small plastic arms that rest against the ice rake are broken. If the ice maker head assembly is modular and you've found broken parts, you can just replace it.
Small or too few ice cubes
If the ice maker is producing ice poorly--making small cubes or too few cubes--you probably have a clogged water line, a defective water-inlet valve, or a defective ice maker mold thermostat that isn't cycling properly.
When my repair tech came out, he showed me that the fill tube sometimes retracts toward the rear of the freezer. He simply pulled it forward with a pair of needle nose pliers until it rested in the delivery reservoir. This placement allows the detector to know when the tray is full and shut off; thus not overfilling the freezing tray and/or splashing additional water onto the freezer wall and into the ice cube drawer.
