Black screen i have a 40inch zenith tv and have sound but no picture

We have a sony HDTV ...

When we turned it on this morning...we have sound, but no picture.

Is there a bulb to replace or something?

was working fine and suddenly two loud cracking noise and screen wet black. power supply????

How old is this TV?
Sounds like it has high voltage failure.
(If you hold your hand on the screen when you try and turn it on, do you feel the static? )
Unless the set is over 10 years old, I would overhaul the high voltage circuit. Should cost under $200 at a shop.

That model is an LCD that uses a backlight. Probably with CCFL tubes. They are known to have bad inverter supplies. Its an old TV though. Keep that in mind.

Medion LCD-TV model MD 30058 40inch is a "troublemaker", the problem you descibe Trond Larsen can probably be solve by replacing a capacitor on the CPU board, costing only NOK10,-

Zenith 13in flat screen tv has no picture...

Welcome to FIXya

did you try to unplug it and plug it back in
or maybe goto the menu and try to redo the stations

make sure you have the tv pluged in to a power strip
