I'm having the same problem with the same TV. I called around to repair shops and I guess it's fixable. Haven't taken it in yet but I was told it most likely is a bad module. But this seems to be a really common problem with this television
I have not been able to find the 3mm x 711mm backlight(ccfl's) anywhere on the net. That is the size of the ccfl's in the backlight assembly. There are 16 individual bulbs and I suppose if one goes out they all will not come on. IMO, I will never buy a Sanyo again. The tv was less than two years old with minimal hours on it.
I took mine in to the Sanyo authorized repair shop and they found the screen itself was bad. Sanyo sells the new screen for $1100, almost double what I paid for it. The repair tech said they do that intentionally.
