Some ways to get rid of your lag is to change internet service providers. If you have a wireless adapter, you may also want to get a new router. If you also have an older router, you may need to change that even you don't use the wireless internet. And for the overheating 360, it should not get hot after that amount of time. Move away from your tv, put it on a flat hard surface.(Not Carpet!), and move it away from a wall that might be preventing it's ventilation.

Could be normal in a very hot kitchen. Two cycles per hour is not really abnormal. Check the condenser coil to see if there is a lot of dirt or pet air trapped in the coil.
I doubt its input lag as this is the first I've heard of it your probably facing a rendering problem so you've either got too much going on your 360 or it is getting too hot which is causing your machine to run slow and lag
We have just had our old system boiler replaced with a vaillant ecotec plus 837 and sounds like a similar working operation to ours. At first I was a little concerned, but I was told by our installer that he was told by vaillant that these very latest boilers size the system on start up for about 10 mins, then take temperature to target flow which you set boiler at.
So even by setting target flow temperature very high you still get the initial sizing cycle, which ours was about 30-35c temp.
These boilers seem to run biased for efficiency as after a while they modulate the boiler burner down and the radiators run more on the side of warm than really hot like the old type boilers. You also get better efficiency as at lower temperature the boiler condenses better. You will also find you get a more constant temperature in your home rather than over shoots.
I was concerned at first, shame there was no info/explanation in user manual as people do need to know that this is normal operation.
We are used to ours now, took a month and by the way these boilers can make a creaking noise but was told this normal expansion/ contraction but annoying when sited in bedroom cupboard.
Best of luck!
Do you use Wi-Fi or an ethernet cable? If you are experiencing severe lag, it could be a problem with your actual internet connection and not necessarily your XBox 360.
I would purchase an ethernet cable (they run about $10 over here in the states) and try that out before anything else
If your connection is slow, make sure you don't have any downloads or uploads going on your computers in your home - this can cause a dramatic use of bandwidth and create lag.
You can also try just having the xbox hooked into the internet to see if it runs better. Also try restarting your internet (unplug the router for 30 seconds).
If you are running wireless, make sure you have a solid connection.
It is also possible that the Halo Reach servers are getting overloaded and having some problems which then Bungie has to deal with.
My guess is that the laptop gets hot and then goes into a powersaving plan to reduce heat production, as a sort of overheating protection. If you want to stop this, run the game on a better cooled machine (dekstop PC) or get a laptop cooler.
This might sound crazy but i had the same problem with my xbox360 the bad thing was my warranty was up so i couldnt send it back. I did alot of research and found that the best way to stop your xbox360 from over heating. This is what i did and it worked just fine I put some fishing string on it and kept it off the ground and i have not had a problem sense. Hopefuly this works for you let me know?
