Cannot watch movies in divx format when am offline...

If your are talking about a xbox 360 console and you can't play a movie, sometimes its because the movie isn't in one of the supported video formats or is copyright protected. Here are some of the movie formats the 360 will support:
.m4v .mp4v .mov .avi (newer .avi files) .DivX .wmv
You may want to get movies in these formats, or get a converter to convert the format into one of these that will play on your 360, hope this helps!

Some of movies encoded in Xivd (not divX, thought thye are compatible) are not supported my some manufacturers.

One of the following should help
- Re-encode the movies in DIVX format and play them
- Upgrade your TVs firmware to support the latest video formats

Hi. You can watch a movie with your device. And also the software you have to use while watching should depend on the codec of the movie. If it is a DivX coded movie, you should use a third party software in your pocketpc in order to see the video, but if the movie is in a windows media codec, you can simply transfer the video and watch it in your pocketpc, since your device is a windows based device. (If you find a lower resolution version of the movie, or lower the movie's resolution by yourself in order to maximise the movie experience in your pocketpc). Try to unplug the player for a few seconds and then plug it back. It should work again with the DivX files. I had an identical problem and since then, it works just fine.

And you downloaded this movie in what format?
If you are planning on converting a DIVX encoded .avi file to a standard DVD format good luck with that... perhaps http://www.afterdawn.com could get you started in the direction you desire...

simplest thing to do is burn the downloaded FILE onto a DATA DVD, AFTER purchasing a stand alone DVD player that has the DIVX logo firmly emblazoned upon it. Then, simply pop the DVD in your stand alone DVD player and watch it wiggle, see it jiggle.

Don't know if I can help or not, but this what I do.
I've downloaded the DIVx player and converter software (free) to my computer. I can download mpeg, avi movies, etc, and convert them to DIVx format if I need to. The DIVx player has a 'burn' feature that is fast and burns them in a DIVx format. My old DVD Recorder will not play DIVx format but my 'cheap' Phillips will. I just keep it hooked up to my old DVD recorder through the front RCA input jacks. When I want to play a DIVx movie and watch it on the TV, I use the cheap Phillips player. I have to change the input on my old DVD Recorder to 'Front Input. I usually record the movie on a DVD R in my DVD Recorder while I'm watching it if I want to keep a copy to play later on the DVD Recorder. Most of the time, I burn the movies to RW DVD and erase them later.

I don't remember the web site for the DIVx players and converters, but you should be able to find it with a search.

The following formats can be played on Windows media player:

avi
mov
mp4
mpg
mpeg

Normally DVD players cannot read compressed formats, if you have a regular DVD/MP3 player, that wont read any of the formats above, or with some luck will read only uncoded Avi, mov or mpeg.

The formats above are all compressed formats, and often they need additional software call codecs, they can be read on computers, but they generally are not working on dvd players.

To be sure that a DVD will read compressed computer movies, you need a special DVD player with Divx , like the one below:
