Having the same problem, the aux phone is not charging properly, I get a perhaps a few minutes of talk time and then it dies. The Contacts seem okay. I've switched the handsets a few times and I now believe that both phones are not holding charges for either base or aux. I've had this model for close to a year now, could be age battery related. This coupled with a "searching for base" message has motivated me to by a new different model phone. I hope the DECT 6.0 is better.

You should have factory reset the phone and check if it's fixed. It might be that the phone operating system is corrupt so you need to format the phone by running a new file on it via flashing. Thank you.
some vtech phones put a chip in their phones and will not take an aftermarket battery...either that or its the wrong one for the phone...ive worked for a battery store for 3 years
The red "charge" light comes on to indicate that the handset is inserted properly into the base. This is it's normal function. No further action is nessesary. :)
I have the vtech dect6.0 with one answering system and two remote docking systems.I can phone out from the remotes but cannot receive incoming calls from the remote. When I pick up the remote to receive the phone immediately shuts off.
