Check for shorted out transistors (4, c5706/707) in the inverter transformer driver circuits.

The DELL E172FPb LCD Monitor (switch light flicks green)scr black

hi, extremely common problem for dell 17 in monitors. the capacitors and transistors on the power board internally have gone bad. to get repaired, it may cost 40-50 at a shop. i have repaired these in the past and they always come out well for at least 3 more years. may want to find another monitor though. if you would like steps on how to repair, let me know and i will find my old repair threads to give to you.

Look for bad caps inside, please look at my picture so you will know what to look for inside:
http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Dell%201704FPT/

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed Dell monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

You will have to open it up and inspect the inside for capacitors with bulging top or seal, or leaking caps first.
Report back what you find so we can guide you further. It can be bad caps, transformers, transistors, bad solder joints, etc.
You can buy replacement board from here (must verufy which version you have): http://www.lcdrepair.us/Invpowersupply.html

Dell 1905fp No Display ( No Picture) on screen but Power Indicate light stays on green. Or Screen Flickering.

You have either power supply or inverter circuits failure, worst case will be lamps.

Describe your Dell E173FP 17" LCD Monitor Problem The monitor seems to be turning itself repeatedly on and off. No picture is ever seen, the screen stays black with a slight flicker.

Sounds like the monitor is cycling power.
Try plugging the monitor into a different power socket. Try not to use the same power bar as your computer

My dell monitor turns on for 2 seconds then goes black and the green light blinks orange

I assume that you already try this monitor on another PC to verify that the problem is in the monitor, in this case you need to open it up and inspect the fuse, transitors, solder connections on the power/inverter board, see failed Dell monitors here for guide: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

You need to open it up and inspect the componente inside, look at the fuse and the transistors in the inverter circuits first, also look for sign of over heating on the board, see pictures here for the guide: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Dell monitor e17s fbp.. wont turn on

Flashing power LED light means you may have shorted (Emitter to Collector) out transistors (c5707) or bad fuse (fuse has high resistance) PF751. Those are what you need to check. see pictures here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Dell%20E173FPb/

My Dell E172FPb flickers & has straight, thin

#1 Connect monitor to another system, make sure the issue is the Monitor, not the video card.
#2 Try a different VGA or DVI cable
If the issue is isolated to the monitor, it is cheaper to replace it than to repair it (Refurb 17" LCDs are $69 on Dell's Outlet
