The lamp may be out. Projectors need high voltage/wattage lamps. They tend to only last 2000 hours or so, which is about a year or two with normal use.

Sounds like the CRTs are going into protective blanking due to the vertical output ic needing to be resolderd. Try resoldering the vertical IC that may possibly fix the issue.
mine has just done the same thing, i had someone look at it and he said the picture had gone. its not worth repairing it as it cost more than the tv is worth. your better off buying a new tv.sorry.
The color wheel is the most common problem when it comes to noise from DLP's.
To determine if it is a color wheel or fan:
Turn on the set.
When the noise starts, turn off the set. If the noise goes away within 5 seconds, then the color wheel is bad. If the noise goes away after one to one and a half minutes after the set was shut off, then one of the fans are making the noise.
