XBOX 360 Elite won't play certain games

Some video stores offer to re surface discs or you could rent/borrow a copy and download game to harddrive this usually will allow play with an unreadable disc

Sounds like your console needs cleaning from the inside, to much dust and fluff. You will find good tutorial on you tube on opening the console.This worked for me.

buy disc cleaner from gamestop and clean disc

what your friend is telling you is the truth, this occured with my WAW disk so i borrowed my friends, wrote it onto my hdd and used my borken disc to play the saved format, so go a head have fun playing mw2 in the future :)

ok , if it is giving u the open tay error , every time u try and load it , it could be a number of reasons behind it , i had the same problom , most games will play but i had 1 game that no matter how many new copys of the game i got , when i put it in my xbox the game spun 3 times and then said , open tray , like trhere was no game in the xbox, so i went 2 you tube and typed in open tray error xbox 360 and there r loads of examples on how 2 fix it , if u keep opening and closing the tray each time after it says open tray after about 6 to 7 times , it should play , but i would go 2 you tube , becase u need 2 open your disc drive 2 fix the problom.

Yes this is actually the receptors on the back of the disc drive you will need to get this fixed. You can do this yourself or you can send it in.

Looks like a corrupted CD .. try exchanging it.

I had the same problem with my Xbox, and the answer wasn't good. This is a hardware issue cause by the video coolor not working and the game overheating, making the video freeze totally.

Call 1-800-4MYXBOX, and have your console serial number ready. They might be able to walk you through some basic troubleshooting, but this will most likely end in you needing to send the system in for a repair.

Yhe only thing noticable here, is that the 360 elite has the 60 gig hard-drive instead of the Standard 20 gig, as fitted with the white 360. perhaps you might be able to try a 20 gig hard-drive on the box. May work, worth a shot. i,d also check microsofts site, for any game updates or patches for the game itself.

p.s plenty of people would be willing to trade your elite for a standard white 360. this would be another alternative.
