Intel DG41RQ Motherboard has two DDR2 (DIMM) sockets. It Support DDR2 800 or DDR2 667 MHz DIMMs. Since you already have a 667 MHz RAM, it is recommended that you add another RAM of the same specification (DIMM DDR2 667 MHz) However, if you add 800 MHz DIMM with 667 MHz, both would perform at 667 MHz. RAMs of different bus speed and latency usually work together but the performance is compromised. It is always better to have RAM in pairs of same specification.
Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya! CreativeTECH
Hello Tarun - No it doesn't. It would run OK but you would not gain any performance as the ram will only run at the same 667 MHz.
The limitation of RAM speed is dictated by the specs of the Intel 945 Chipset the motherboard is based on. But certainly add more ram, especially if your running Windows Vista or Windows 7 which both need at least two GB of RAM to perform well.
Happy upgrading and thanks for using Fix Ya.

The specification does not tell you the minimum memory. If available you may put 64/128/256/512MB DDR2 667 MHz ram. But these days minimum ram size available in the market is 1GB DDR2 667MHz ram. So this is the minimum.
The most important is the maximum memory it can support. This model can support maximum 2GB DDR2 ram.
Your laptop's RAM is upgradeable to up to 4 GB using two DDR2 533/667 MHz SODIMM modules.
So your upgrade options here are: 1. Buy a 1 GB DDR2 533/667 MHz SODIMM module & install it to get a total RAM of 2 GB (Price around US$ 25). 2. Buy a 2 GB DDR2 533/667 MHz SODIMM module & install it to get a total RAM of 3 GB (Price around US$ 45).
Nowadays, motherboards supports only a selected number of RAMs. You have to read the manual and select from the given models.
I am not talking about DDR2 or 667MHz. The manual will state the manufacturer (ex. Kingston) model no (KVR667XXXXXX) etc. Only those stated in the manual will work correctly with your motherboard.
This chip will not work in your machine. You machine takes the PC4200 or 533mhz memory, the kingston chip you listed is 667mhz or PC5300. A very useful site for memory configuration is patriotmem.com
