I have a Yamaha RX-V800 AV Receiver. When I connect a Composite Video Signal the picture I get is all wavy and weak. I though it had to do with an older device but new VCRs and DVDs result in the same problem. It doesn't seem to matter which input I use. Any help would be appreciated.
Hey there fontdude, I will begin assuming you are running your a/v cable into your receiver and then out to the TV or Monitor. If this is the case, I suggest you run the video cable direct from DVD or VCR device to Tv/monitor. You can still run the audio through your receiver. The nature of your problem was probably related to video signal strength being weakened as it ran through your receiver. Good Luck! Let me know how it works for you.
Russell, running the cable directly to the TV solved the problem. The VCR works OK through the receiver, but I could not set up the clock. The clock display through the receiver and thence to the TV was there but it was too large to properly see the menu items. Anyway, your solution to run directly to the TV yielded the proper size display on the TV and I managed to get the clock set. Long winded, but thanks for a successful solution.
