In general, yes. Some model-specific features won't work with other models, of course. For example the 4P does PostScript while the 4 does not. But as long as the customer confines himself to basic printing, the 4L driver should work properly with any of the 4-series printers.

You need to replace your transfer roller. Might as well do a complete maintenance kit.(Rollers, Fuser and Transfer Roller)

A 50 Service error is a fuser error. Turn the printer off for 5 to 10 minutes, then turn it back on. If the error is still there, I think your going to need to make a service call you can try reseating the fuser, but be sure to let the fuser cool completely before touching it.

I have a similar situation. Trying to print from a HP LaserJet 4 using a parallel cable to USB. It will not recognize the printer. What is the installation setup or what is the trick to get it to print?
