I can't get my Mac or PC to recognize my JVC everio gz hd7
I can't get my Mac or PC to recognize my jvc everio gd hz 7 via the firewire. I'm trying to download footage but have never been able to get either computer to recognize that the camera is connected.

I have used my Enviro MG21 with windows 7 and now Win 8 with no problems so I don't think it is comparability issue.
Try opening up "My Computer" and see if Enverio appears as a device, if not try adding it via "Control Panel - then add device abd manually install via the on screen instructions"
You don't need the disc. Buy Corel's latest videostudio x2 for editing. To extract the video files from camera just plug into computer with USB cable and search the camera for files.
If you are using a Mac, you should also use the firewire cable (not a USB). Using the Mac program that comes pre-installed on the mac, iMovie, you can then import the movie and save it using imovie. Then you can also, edit and clip and merge and add all kind of special effects, titles and more.
Hope this helps.

Hey Brett, unfortunately FCP and iMovie are looking for a device over Firewire or a capture card (whichever you have set up). The driver off of the disk is actually quite useless under any Mac Os 10. Video editing programs unless older or PC based rarely use USB for video transfer hence why none of the apps are locating the camera. Unfortunately you'll have to transfer the files via USB as data and use a program like MPEGStreamclip to transcode them to a file format those programs will understand. JVC has released updated software but it seems to do nothing at all. I hope this helps.
P.S. you may need the MPEG 2 Codec to do the conversions wether you're using MPEGStreamclip or another application.
