It holds up to 3 pounds of melted chocolate, There is no certain brand of chocolate that works best but you will find that the smaller chocalate chips melt better and you will also need to add a little vegetable oil to keep it flowing properly.

Put the chocolate in the bottom. Read the box to make sure you don't have to use a specific kind of chocolate. Depending on how much chocolate you are heating and whether it is already liquid when cold would determine heating time but usually 15-20 minutes would be the minimum time.
