Acer Aspire 5000 series keyboard was working intermittently. It's out of warranty, so I removed the keyboard to find the plastic connector holding the keyboard cable to be broken and the cable being held very loosely. Is there a way to repair/replace this connector? There seems to be a white piece connected to the motherboard and a black piece that has come loose. Thanks.

Wher is wifi card located on Acer aspire 1355LC

Several models of the Acer Aspire One netbook are on the market, but each version is based on the same chassis. The method of replacing the Aspire One's wireless card is the same for each model. Though replacing the wireless card with a newer card is a simple process, opening the Aspire One and removing the original hardware may void the manufacturer or store warranty.

Place the Acer Aspire One face-down on a flat surface so that the bottom is facing upwards. Remove the six screws with a Philips screwdriver; three are located in the battery compartment, and the other three are located under the speakers. Place the screws in a cup to avoid losing them. Turn the Aspire One over so that the bottom is facing down. Open the lid so that the keyboard is exposed. Identify three small black tabs above the "F2," "F8" and "Print Screen" buttons. Depress each tab with a straight screwdriver. Lift the top of the keyboard with a straight screwdriver after the tabs have been depressed. Pull the keyboard forward towards the screen, then lift it free of the chassis. Disconnect the keyboard's ribbon connection by gently prying the plastic clip away from the ribbon with your fingernail or a straight screwdriver. Set the keyboard aside. Remove the six screws holding the top half of the Acer's chassis to the motherboard. Gently pry the chassis upwards; a series of plastic clips holds it to the bottom half of the chassis. Press each clip with a straight screwdriver until the top half of the chassis lifts free. Set it aside and place the screws in a cup to avoid losing them. Remove the metal plate covering the wireless card; it is located in the bottom right side of the motherboard and held in place with two screws. Set the plate aside and place the screws in a cup. Disconnect the wireless card by pulling the two wires holding it in place upwards. Slide the wireless card forward out of the slot it's in and set it aside. Slide the new wireless card into the slot, then plug the two wires into the new card, reversing the actions you used to remove the old card. Place the metal plate over the new wireless card and screw it in place. Place the chassis over the motherboard, carefully align it with the bottom half of the chassis, and then firmly press down onto it until the tabs snap back into place. Replace the screws into the six screw slots. Place the keyboard over the chassis. Lift the ribbon connector and slide the ribbon into the slot. Press the ribbon connector into the 'locked' position, then slide the keyboard into place and press firmly to snap the tabs into place. Turn the Acer Aspire One upside down and replace the screws that were removed from the bottom of the netbook.

Hi i have got a new keyboard and wish to change it on acer 7520

Acer Aspire 7520G-502G25Mi Keyboard Repair and ReplacementAre you considering laptop keyboard repair? You might think twice if you happen to be the lucky owner of a laptop, because replacing the keyboard rather than repairing it could be a lot less expensive. Laptop keyboard replacement on this particular model is very easy and takes just a few minutes. Here is a quick Acer Aspire 7520G-502G25Mi Keyboard repair tutorial with step-by-step instructions. Once you have purchased the new keyboard, all you need to replace the old with the new is a screwdriver and something plastic, flat and thin like a credit card or guitar pick.
Step one: Remove the two screws from the bottom of the computer that are holding down the Acer Aspire 7520G-502G25Mi Keyboard bezel. The bezel is the bar that sits right above all the function keys.
Step two: Turn the computer over, open the cover and insert the credit card or guitar pick between the bezel and the laptop screen. The bezel has pegs that sit in holes, you need to slowly pry up the bezel. It will make a bit of a popping noise as it is removed.
Step three: Now hold on to the laptop keyboard from the end closest to the screen and gently pull it away from the touch-pad end and flip it over. You will see the ribbon attached to the underside of the Acer Aspire 7520G-502G25Mi Keyboard. There is a little plastic connector holding the ribbon to the computer. To unlock it, carefully pull up on the two tabs; one located on each corner of the connector. Be very gentle when you do this as this is the one part that gets broken the most often when changing a keyboard. The ribbon cable will now be released.
Step four: Carefully pull the ribbon out of the connector and remove it along with the entire Acer laptop keyboard.
Final step: To insert the new Acer Aspire 7520G-502G25Mi Keyboard, place the board face down so you have easy access to the ribbon. Make sure the keyboard is lined up so when you flip it back over the keys are in the correct position. Keep the ribbon straight at all times; twisting it could damage it. Place the ribbon in the connector; it only goes in one way. Once in place, push down on the connector tabs to lock it. Now flip the keyboard over and slide it down toward the touch pad and take the bezel and line the pegs up with the holes and push it in place. Then turn the computer over and replace the two screws you removed from the bottom. You can now power on your computer and see if the Acer Aspire 7520G-502G25Mi Keyboard works. If it is not working, more than likely the ribbon was not inserted properly.

Keyboard broken on my Acer Aspire 5520

For the Acer Aspire 5520 I'm working on, (Acer Aspire 5520-5156, mode nol: ICW50)

Remove the three black screws under the battery, not the silver screws.

VERY carefuly pry off the power button cover. It will make 'snapping' sounds and if you where gentle nothing will be broken.

The keyboard has no screws holding it and can be slid toward the screen and very gently pryed out, taking care not to tear the ribbon cable, as mentioned before.

When the keyboard is out the cable can be released by gently pulling the cable lock on the header toward the cable, the thin (black in this case, it's usualy a different color than the white connector) plastic part of the connector I just use my fingernails, one index finger on each end slowly pulling till it releases.
Pull the cable out using the pull tab. You can just pull the flat cable out with the pull tab without releasing the calbe lock but you stil need to release the cable lock to properly put in the new cable, then push the cable lock back tight to the connector.

My mouse pad doesnt work and my login screen is froze

Hey,

This is a common fault in the acer aspire 5000 series.

Your keyboard and mouse are no longer functioning? Does usb keyboard work?

when you turn the computer on and it says on the corner of the screen to press f2 or this button to enter setup, are you able to enter setup?

If not, then you have a bigger problem on the laptop.

do you still have warranty on it?

Trying to find keyboard replacement instructions

On the back of the laptop remove the battery and any screws under it, if you look just above the keyboard theres a seperate peice of plastic now remove any screws on the back that could potentially screw into it and remove it (theres normally clips aswell and sometimes you have to slide it either left or right first. Then theres normally a screw holding the keyboard in normally locted in the centre and 'sunk-in' deeper than the rest of them remove that and the keyboard should lift up, careful its still attatched via a zif connector, remove this by pulling up the little tags at the edges of the connector pulling it out (should come out easily) then you looking for either a single cell battery or a black thing in the shape of a battery with a black and a red wire coming out of it.
