Hello, my seagate external drive is not registering on my mac but is making a beeping noise. What does this mean?

Try changing your USB cable you are using to connect the External drive.. It may be that the usb cable is not good and thus the Drive is making beeping sound..

If it helped you please say thanks and like/rate the comment please

Drive manager is grey and says that no drive is attatched.

You need to get a Seagate Harddisk Utility software to check the disk intergrity.

Although hardware issues like can sometimes be very difficult to fix due to the impact on a volatile component on the harddisk which are most times not replaceable

Freeagent 500 GB external not detecting - whirring sound

technically, handling damage is not covered by warranty. the warrenty will get you a new drive.

i am afraid costly data recovery service is the only way to go. the noise is probably coming from head/media damage. the light simply indicates the drive is busy (trying to execute the command host has posted).

Seagate SanMax 120GB external with fan noise

It depends on the noise. It should be still under warranty. You should NEVER operate it without a fan as this is a safety hazard. If it is making a noise like a buzzsaw, it is most likely the bearings of the HD mechanism. If it is making a scraping noise, it's likely the fan. Make use of the warranty if/while you still can!
