Big Button Remote Control

I have a Pioneer DVD/VCR recorder (DVR-RT300) hooked up to my Panasonic flat panel TV. (The TV cable goes into the DVD/VCR.) I got my big button remote to turn the TV on and off. It can also turn ON the DVD/VCR, but It cannot turn OFF the DVD/VCR. What it DOES do -- it switches from DVD to VCR but it does not turn off the unit. When I push the (controller) off button again it simply switches the VCR light back to the DVD light. I have to bend down to manually turn off the DVD/VCR. (The controller has a VCR button and a DVD button but no button that says: DVD/VCR.)

So, how can I program my remote control to turn off the DVD/VCR unit ??

George

Wow, you did a lot for me. Tomorrow I'll check the codes which you provided
I thought my unit was the 300 but it is the 500, namely: DVR-RT500. I'm sorry I goofed you up.
I'l check out all the info you gave me so far and let you know tomorrow.

None of the codes worked. I called Pioneer tech support and they were no help. You are correct by saying that since it is a duel system there are no codes for it since my BIG controller has separate DVD and VCR buttons.

I'm going to solve the problem a different way. I'm getting a SINGLE system -- not a duel.

Thanks for all your help. You did a lot. Thanks again.

This is because you did not use the right remote code. Try trying different codes and test different functions with your recorder. Try searching on the Pioneer wesbite for remote codes. I would get the codes for you, but I don't have your model number so I can't. You can search for them yourself or comment back informing me of the model.

Hope this helps :)

I don't know if these codes will work but you can try them. :)

    553, 562, 573, 574, 575, 576, 600, 005, 016, 033, 050

    Keep trying different codes.

Read your remote manual to figure out how to program codes. If none work, comment back and find more codes

Here are some more codes that are more likely to work than the other ones. ;) 0059, 0571, 0067, 0162, 665, 718, 719

The highlighted ones are the most likely to work.

Hope all that stuff up there helps man. Spent a long time looking for codes thast might work. The thing is, those codes are only VCR or DVD codes for Pioneer. There were no codes for a dual system. I don't really know if they will work or not. Hope they do though. ;)

PioneerDVR-225 recorder

A lot of the functionality you are wanting is tied to the remote that you have misplaced. You can go to the Pioneer support site and order a new remote, though it is like $30.

As for wiring options to record, it depends on the inputs and outputs that are available on your television.
- Ideally, connect VCR to TV input "1", connect DVR output to TV input "2", and conect TV output to DVR. This will help you avoid any copy protection issues you run into, but not all TV sets have both audio and video output.
- If you don't have TV outputs, connect VCR out to DVR in, and then DVR out to TV in. This will definitely work, but you will have to have the DVR turned on to watch a VCR tape.
