If you can see that your VCR has power (lights up) when you turn it on, but it still won't eject tape, then unplug for a and hour or two. When you turn it on again, it should reset itself and start up. Then you should be able to eject cassette. If there is no power at all, or you think the taped is jammed and you want to save the tape, remove the top panel of the unplugged VCR and gently remove the tape. Good luck!

The recording may have used all the media on the disk because you let it run until it was full.
Now, there is no room to finalize the disk.

Play this back on the machine where it was recorded while recording it to another DVD recorder..
This time, BE THERE to stop the recording.
Set the recorder to a speed that leaves at least 10 minutes extra space for finalization.

I'm sure this will prove to be something very simple. It's possible that you have not selected the correct input on the DVD/VDR for recording, however, I don't really have enough information to be able to give you a definitive answer.

The most important factor is whether you are using a Satellite receiver box, or whether you have a Satellite 'tuner' (FreeSat?) built into your TV. This is not clear so I'm going to work on the assumption that you are using a satellite receiver (until you tell me otherwise) as this is still the most common setup.

The first thing I notice from your description is that you seem to have a slight mis-understanding of how the connections between your devices work. The cable/connection used between your TV and DVD/VCR for playback of DVD and videos can only be used for playback. You cannot assume that your setup is correct for recording simply because you can watch DVD and video on your TV. You would need to have a minumum of 2 connections between the TV and DVD/VCR to be able to record from the TV and, with many TVs, this cannot be done anyway.

To record from the satellite receiver, the satellite receiver should ideally be connected directly to the DVD/VCR. I have drawn a couple of simple diagrams below to illustrate this.

However, you did state that you were able to record last week, but you did not explicity say that you had recorded from a satellite channel, so it's possible that you were recording from the TV or from the tuner in the DVD/VCR. It is not possible for me to say unless I know how all of your devices (TV, DVD/VCR and satellite receiver) are inter-connected.

Please take a look at the following diagrams and then answer the questions below. I should then be able to give you a definitive answer and a comprehensive solution to your problem.

Setup 1

This is the ideal and normal setup for recording from a satellite receiver box. The DVD/VCR records directly from the satellite receiver. The connection between the DVD/VCR and TV is for playback only.

Setup 2

This setup is highly unlikely to enable you to record from the satellite receiver. This is possible on some TVs but very few. There are 2 connections between the DVD/VCR and the TV. One for recording and one for playback. This will normally only allow you to record from the TV if the TV also has an aerial/antenna connection and will only record the aerial/antenna channels. If your TV has a built in Satellite/FreeSat tuner, it may be possible to record from Satellite as long as you have both connections from TV to DVD/VCR. This depends on the TV you have and whether it supports this feature.

Setup 3

This setup will not record anything. The single connections between the satellite receiver and TV and between the DVD/VCR and TV are strictly for playback.

Please review the diagrams above and then reply to me from within this page with the answers to following questions:

1. Does your TV have a built-in satellite/FreeSat tuner?
2. Which of the above diagrams is most closely related to your setup?
3. How are your TV, DVD/VCR and satellite reciever inter-connected? - Which types of cable are you using and which sockets are the connected to?

hello, your DVD did come with a manual I guess.Talking about universal remote,I think it comes with a manual.You can request for a new universal remote control with a manual that contains the code of the device you are using.If not you could also buy the appropriate remote control for your device at an electronic store where they sell elect products, or better still, buy the remote from the place you bought your device. if you experience anymore problems operating your device pls feel free to let me know.

Setting the clock

The clock is set to the correct time automatically, but it
can also be set manually. The clock can be set for
daylight saving time and time zone.
Preparation:
• Turn ON the TV and set it to the video input mode.
• Select “CLOCK” from “SYSTEM SETUP”. For the
procedure, see steps 1 to 3 in “Using the SETUP
MENU”

1 Press SETUP while the DVD and video tape is
stopped.
The SETUP MENU screen will appear.

You can manually set the date, year and present time
with the remote control.
Ex.: Setting the clock to “10:20AM” October, 30th, 2004.
1 Select “CLOCK” and press ENTER.

AUTO CLOCK
You can automatically set the clock by turning “ON” the
AUTO CLOCK function.
When you want to set the auto clock function to “OFF”,
select “AUTO CLOCK”, press ENTER and select “OFF”
from the list.

Auto clock setting
Preparation:
You must connect the antenna or cable before connecting
the AC cord to the power source.
Wait 30 minutes with the power turned off, after the
antenna or cable is connected, for the auto clock
feature to activate.
After the clock is set automatically, you may have to set
the time zone and daylight saving time. (See page 26.)
Press STANDBY/ON to turn on the DVD/VCR after the
auto clock operation completed.
• When shipped from the factory, the “AUTO CLOCK”
option is set to “ON” position.
• If you turn the DVD/VCR on during auto clock
setting, the clock is not set.
• After a power failure or disconnection of the power
plug, the clock setting will be lost. In this case, wait
30 minutes before turning the DVD/VCR on.
• With cable box connection, if the auto clock setting
is unsuccessful, select the PBS channel carrying
the XDS information, then turn the DVD/VCR off.
After 30 minutes, turn the DVD/VCR on.
• If the clock is not set automatically, set the clock
manually.


STANDARD TIME (Time zone)
In the rare event that you live within the broadcast range
of two stations in two different time zones, the DVD/VCR
may recognize the wrong station for the auto clock set.
To correct the situation:
Select “STANDARD TIME” and select the time zone from
the list below.

ATLANTIC: GMT – 4 hours
(GMT: Greenwich Mean Time)
EASTERN: GMT – 5 hours
CENTRAL: GMT – 6 hours
MOUNTAIN: GMT – 7 hours
PACIFIC: GMT – 8 hours
ALASKA: GMT – 9 hours
HAWAII: GMT – 10 hours
AUTOMATIC: AUTO SET
Note
• When shipped from the factory, the “TIME ZONE” is
set to “AUTOMATIC”.
• After making the auto clock setting, in some cases
the clock may display another time zone. You can
correct the clock by selecting your time zone
setting above.
• When the clock is not set or you set the clock
manually, the time zone setting is not available.
DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME
You can set the clock to daylight saving time automatically
or manually.
To select daylight saving time, select “DAYLIGHT
SAVING TIME” and select “ON”, while to cancel the
daylight saving time, select “OFF”.
ON: For manual setting (forward 1 hour)
OFF: For manual setting (back 1 hour)
AUTOMATIC: For automatic setting (read XDS in
the signal)
Note
• When you want to set daylight saving time, on the
first Sunday in April you set it to “ON”, and on the
last Sunday in October you set it to “OFF”.
• When shipped from the factory, the “DAYLIGHT
SAVING TIME” option is set to “AUTOMATIC”.
• When the clock is not set, the daylight saving time
setting is not available.
• When there is no daylight saving time in your area,
always select “OFF”.

Question edited for clarity. Great question Madeleine. The ones with Screen Saver and Audio are in Preview Mode. If you want to watch them, you have to subscribe. It is a tactic to get you hooked and get you to pay. Sometimes they will give you a couple of minutes of video and audio at the beginning of a programme. It isn't a television issue, it is your cable provider and a sales technique. ..

Sorry you're having problems. Offhand the 8 blink code on a Pioneer Plasma translates to an internal communication failure in the TV and generally requires repairs. However it's worth it to try a hard reset, as sometimes the processor in the TV can simply have locked up. The first thing you would try, is disconnect the set from power, then press and hold the power button on the TV itself (not the remote), for 10 seconds and release. Then plug the set back in, and also check that the power cord is connected tight at the TV as well. Press power once, and see if the set powers up normally.

The blue blinking light on your Pioneer amp could indicate a number of issues. One possible reason is that the amp is in "standby" mode, which means that it is not currently receiving any audio signals. Another possibility is that the amp is experiencing an error or malfunction. To get a better understanding of the issue, I would recommend checking the user manual for your Pioneer amp. If you don't have the manual, you can try searching for it online using the model number of your amp. You can also try resetting the amp by unplugging it from the power source for a few minutes and then plugging it back in. If the problem persists, it may be time to take your amp to a professional for repair.
