Did this ever get solved ? if so how ?

  • Anonymous Oct 12, 2010

    just a quick update .
i took my cdx to peices and used a pic chip programer to copy , blank then rewrite the onboard chip this seems to have fixed the problem it may have been a build up of static or something and even just taking the chip out and repalcing it may may work also i slightly bent back the capacitors that were touching one of the heatsinks . all i know is this has worked ever since . sorry this is a bit vague but when u open the cdx up you can see the boards with the removable chips in them just remove and replace to see if this helps
if not you need to purchace a willem programer or something similar ..
im not sure if im supposed to post a link here but this is just to show you what a willem programer is http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Advanced-Willem-EP...

Hi aondj

I would remove the back panel, and get access to the soldering of the connectors that are giving you trouble. resolder them, and see how you go. Get back to me here if this does not cure it and we shall get into it further

regards
Graeme

Onkyo TX 8020 Receiver sounds muffled. I have the Onkyo TX 80202 receiver and just bought the Audio Technica AT-LP120 turntable to connect to it. I have the turntable switch to "Phono" (so as to make use...

This sounds like a wiring problem. Perhaps a faulty earth connection inside the lead or the plugs to and from the turntable. Also check the connections to the cartridge, they can become loose or be connected wrong. Say a channel to the earth connection.

Sound quility is poor on phono side vol., E.Q, channel control are'nt responding properly sound like the sound is up to high

I think that something is wrong. The phono connectors are exclusively for vinyl turntables with phono cartridges. In case you connect a cd player or other compatible source at these connectors the sound is highly destorted and the result is terrible. Could you please clarify me what audio device do you use at the phono input.

In case of a problem or clarification or further details needed, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.

I have Polk Audio TSi500 speakers running through a receiver. They sound fine when the radio is playing from the receiver, but when I try to play music from a computer the speakers sound muffled. I have...

Phono jacks are specifically to hook up a turntable to an amplifier (which is what I assume you mean instead by "receiver" ). Most amplifiers have a receiver (radio) section, but they can be separate components. Anyway, try hooking it up to an auxiliary (AUX) input on your amplifier instead. This may be all you need to do. Good luck!

Gemini XL-BD10. Always worked fine. Started sounding muffled and "dirty." Thought it was the needle. Replaced it with a new one. Still the same. Tried a new set of RCA cables and ground wire. Same thing....

Check the internal circuit of the deck, follow the leads from the cartridge. Perhaps a faulty resistor or something else in any pre-amp. Make certain also it's not your amp that has not got a faulty phono pre-amp stage.

Sound coming from turntable sounds muffled. Just replaced stylus

Check the wiers on the head shell ,even concordes e.t.c.. have them, there just hidden inside the shell .just be cearefull when pulling off the end .
then try checking the phono leads that come out of the deck.

Crackley bubbly sound

  1. What version of Windows?
  2. What hardware?
My initial guess is distortion.  With some hardware, and at least on Vista, I had really bad pops/cracks with Audition 3 initially using a Creative Labs Audigy 2... sound card.  Then after getting an M-Audio Delta 1010LT, no more problems EVER.

Muffled sound

HELLO!
I don't think the problem is the actual stylus (needle), it sounds like the magnetic cartridge has become faulty in some way (it does happen). My advice is try another cartridge and stylus (borrow if you can). If the audio stays the same then it MAY be the wiring in the arm going through the plinth (deck) and these wires terminate to pins or a small pcb board in the turntable where the phono cables and arm wires are connected. There may be a bad connection inside.
Also, make sure your tonearm counterweight and anti-skate are set up properly as well as this can have an effect on audio.
I hope this helps as I have been into audio since I was a kid!
