Depending on the RAM you have installed, there could be a bad chip on the RAM module. Standard Memory is sequential and will stop once it reaches a bad chip. To test this rotate your RAM mpodules by moving the first module to the last bank. If the memory increases then you have a bad module.

My dell poweredge 1800 doesnot boot, it gives an amber light after turning on . I have tried to remove the Ram but still the problem persists

An Amber blinking power button indicates a low voltage problem. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard.May also be caused by a defective card installed in the motherboard, i.e. video card.

Dell Poweredge 1800 server not start, i press power button but nothing hapened

Your Model of Dell Poweredge 1800 server may not have a redundant power supply. The power supply is the most like cause of the problem. order a replacement power supply and replace the faulty unit.

I want my Laptop Dell Latitude C800 physical memory upgraded to 128 mb to 256 mb I myself already installed 256 mb Ram but it still showing 128 mb of memory...can I get help in this regard ?

I assume you installed another 128Mb of RAM to give you a total of 256Mb.
It is most likely the 2nd RAM module is not compatible with the other RAM module. Try using the same make.
OR
Purchase and install a single RAM module 256Mb or 512Mb these are not expensive.

Physical Memory is limited to 256 MB" in dell 2600 poweredge

In the bios there is an option to install OS, make sure this is flaged as off, when you reboot you will have access to the full amount of onboard ram.

Hard disk and ram

Hello Kevin Shaggy...

Let me see if I can help you out a bit...
Adding a 160gb to a 40gb does give you 200gb. BUT!!! you will loose a little bit on each one after formatting the harddrive. The new drive will wind up being about 157 or 159gb give or take a little.
ANY harddrive partition, whether it is a c:, d:, etc...you DO have to format EACH drive letter.
If you partition your 160gb harddrive into 2 parts, (2) 80gb drives, then they would get two drive letters and both of them get formatted.
IF the 40gb drive is C: then the new 160gb partitioned in half would be D: & E:.
CDROM Drive would be F: and so on....
Floppy Drives, CDrom Drives, DVD Drives, you do not have to format like a hard drive...

If you add a 1gb stick of memory to your existing 256mb stick of memory then you WOULD have 1gb + 256mb. If you remove the 256mb and just add 1gb, then you would just have 1gb.
