To fix this you first need to remove the ink and the print head. Wash the 4 ink pads in luke warm water. Keep running the water over the bottom of the print head until the water shows no sign of ink colouration. Make sure all of the print head is completely dry before replacing it into your printer. After restarting your printer you will probably see the alarm light still flashing. Now hold your finger on the resume button for up to 2 minutes or until you hear a clunking sound. Hold your finger on this button and the printer will fix itself and the alarm light will stop.
Sir,
You are suggested to take your Printer to work shop as I can tell what to do but if you are not professional could damage printer. And the shop keeper will servicie properly inside out and it would work fine and it cheaper to do so.
You need to clean the encoder strip, the clear strip behind the carriage. You can wipe it carefully with a damp Qtip because with too much ink on it the carriage thinks it's not moving.

You may not see a paper jam.
This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you.
Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.
First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.
If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there. And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it. Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

This may noy have a solution. sorry. if the cart actually moves and then it crashes onto one side, your problem could be the printing head. this is much more expensive than a new printer. you may wanna try to change cartridges (both) and see if it responds. sorry to say :S
hi I don't know if you have the same problem as me but my printer kept saying cartridge jammed so I opened it up and moved the cartride head gently to the left and got a flash light there is a little peice of metal on the base where the cartridges sit you have to make sure it is cliked back in and now mine works again. I hoe this helps
I have the multipass mp700 and have just experienced the same message ..... wrong cartridge. After reading the manual, from the disc, it means that there's something wrong with the print head, most likely needs cleaning, but it won't clean because the printer is sending a malfunction message. I will be trying to clean the head and if that doesn't fix it then I'll buy a new print head. Good luck with the problem.
