No sound or picture

Hi..

I was watching the end of a movie and the credits were rolling. Suddenly lost picture and sound. Main Power light does not glow (green). However Secondary power light does (located on small panel which pops out, the TV controls are located here). When remote used to turn on/off clicking noises are heard.

Woke up this morning and tried to turn on and has no sound or picture. Never had a problem before. Blue light on front of TV comes on and clicking sound is heard as if its going to work. Any help on whether a part needs replaced and how to do it would be helpful. Thanks so much!!

Suddenly went black w/o sound while watching. can't bring it back.

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Sony Wega 60" TV lamp light

Nope. It appears that you now have a main power supply issue since the set is dead.

Dear FixYa, I am a novelist. In the novel I am writing right now, I have a character who falls asleep while watching a movie on DVD. She then wakes up after the movie is over. Can I ask you what she...

It goes back to the DVD menu. Some DVD menus have little animations of characters from the movie talking to you telling you to start the movie or something. You could definitely go somewhere with that. Also, some DVD players have a sleep timer on them so they turn off automatically or just show the start up screen which usually says the brand name of the device.

Hitachi 55" Plasma HDTV, 1 yr old, suddenly lost picture and sound, but power light still on.

It sounds like a shutdown circuit is being activated. This is normal in cases where the power supply id drawing excessive current. I would suggest that you get this looked at by a qualified professional. This is because this problem may be in the power supply and the voltages can get dangerous in this section of the TV set.

In any event if this is a power supply problem chances are the technician will just have to replace the power supply. Which should cost from 150-250 dollars.

I hope this helps

Koala babe, narrow the problem. Is there any sign of power presence in the unit. Could be just a power issue. You did not mention any lights indication on your front panel.

Good luck.
