Press the reset button for 10 seconds. You can use a small object, such as a paper clip to hold down the button.

The unit should now reboot, and once the WLAN light stops blinking the router should be reset.

Please Do not power off the unit while the router is being reset.

To access the router enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar and press Enter.

type admin as the ID and leave the password blank

My internet connection via the router (d-link DI-524) have slowed down. how do i reset settings or put a password?

Maybe you have an open WiFi (no password wireless) and anyboby near can connect to your router and download files, this can slow down your Internet connection. To put a password to your wireless network, enter setup preferably by a wired connection to router, in your browser type the default IP address of it (http://192.168.0.1), the user is admin and its password must be left blank (default settings), at the Home tab go directly to Wireless option since you'll only change your WiFi from unsecure to secure, there you can choose the security type, WPA is recommended, after select it you can put the new Key (password) of your WiFi, and finally apply to get changes working, just remember that after this procedure, you'll have to enter the password in each new wireless connection to your router.

Dlink router is not connecting to the internet

Check the lights on the router to make sure both out going and incoming are on.

Manual link below in case that helps

ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/di_broadband_gateways/di-524/di-524_manual.pdf

If not both on contact broadband supplier as IP for router may have been "altered" and will need resetting their end.

Not unknown for an outage to be proceeded by a "spike" which can blow unprotected items.

Need passphrase from D-Link router DI-524

1. if the default login never been modified b4, u can hook a network cable to the router, type "192.168.0.1" to enter the router config. Once inside, u can edit the password or disable it.
*U may prompt for username (admin) and passsword(empty).

2. If the default login has been modified and u r not able to enter the router config, u can just reset the router by inserting a pin to the small hole to get back the factory default settings. Then u can perform above step again to reconfigure your wireless router.

Installing a DI-524 router

Hi askar,

I'm assuming if you've been given a username/password you've either got DSL (a PPPoE connection) or it's for your email address. If you don't have a disc for your new router, you can configure it through a wired connection to the router (using an ethernet cable). That's a bit of work but if you need to do it that way we can help. Otherwise run the CD that came with the router (again, you'll need a computer plugged into it) and the step-by-step should get you through it.

For starters, unplug the modem and then plug the cable running from the old router into the same port space in the new router (should say either WLAN or Uplink). Turn on the modem, wait 30 seconds, then power on the router. After that run the disc and you should be good.

If not, let me know!

D-Link DI-524 4 Port connection Problem.

Perhaps the router is not broadcasting its SSID, therefore is invisible to would be tappers. Type 192.168.0.1 into a browser on a computer directly wired to the router, leave the username blank, if you havent changed it, the password is admin by default. Once logged in check that wireless is enabled and that you are broadcasting the ssid, you may want to setup/change security settings for the wireless connection at this time also.
