First you would have to connect your Xbox to the internet. Steps for this can be seen on xbox.com. Assuming you have already connected it to the internet, you can either purchase an Xbox live gold membership with a credit card on xbox.com, or use a prepaid subscription card and enter the code on the xbox live marketplace. Good luck!
connect your xbox to internet.
click on your account and select"join xbox live"
when you register you will be started off with a free trial
go to gamestore and buy an xbox live gold membership monthley card or buy a gold member ship online. once your trial runs down you will live off a silver account which doesnt let you join partys, play online with friends, etc.
To get a wireless internet connection for Xbox live, you will need a high-speed Internet connection such as cable or DSL and a router, gateway, or wireless access point (WAP) that is compatible with Xbox live. If your XBOX360 console is first generation, you will also need a Xbox 360 wireless networking adapter. If you are using a wired connection, you will need a network cable. Plug the network cable into your router and the other end into your Xbox 360. On your Xbox 360 console, navigate to "MY XBOX" and then select "system settings" Next select "Network settings" and then select "Test Xbox Live connection" Select YES when the prompt appears asking you to update your software. After you become connected, there are two choices: Free membership of Gold membership. Once you are connected, navigate back to "My XBOX" and select your avatar and then select "Join Xbox Live" If you need any more help feel free to contact me. Thank you for using Fixya
ok well ill giv u a check list on how to do it
1 hav a broadband connection
2 connect an ethernet cable to your modem from your xbox
3 u are now connected to the internet so either buy a reedeemable xbox live gold card from the store or enter credet card info and use xbox's direct buy for ur gold membership
Step 1
Form your Xbox 360 you need to be connected to the Internet by a straight LAN line or wirelessly. You can test you connection by going to the setting screen on your Xbox 360.
Step 2
Once connected to the Internet for your Xbox 360 go to your main account screen and find the tab that says "Join Xbox LIVE" click on that link then follow the simple instructions that the Xbox LIVE will provide. At this point you should have a name in mind for your gamer tag.
Step 3
Xbox 360 LIVE has several different options available for memberships. They are a monthly, 3-month and 12-month membership accounts. I would recommend a simple one month account if you just wanted to check out the features offered on XBOX 360 LIVE. If your an avid gamer and love to play games online with friends, the 12-month Gold membership is the way to go.
Step 4
Once you've completed the process of joining Xbox 360 LIVE, they will send you a confirmation email confirming your membership. Now you can log on to Xbox 360 LIVE and start doing this like customizing your avatar and playing online multi-player games.
It is a compulsary update for your Xbox 360 system so it can support the feature you are trying to do. So you really might want to join to Xbox Live by creating an Xbox Live account and by signing in to Xbox Live, it will automatically install the latest firmware to update your system.
Couple potential reasons: 1- xbox live marketplace is experiencing high volume. 2- Your Internet provider is undergoing maintenance. 3- (OK so a few reasons) your connection is spotty. Solution= try again when volume is reduced maybe early AM or late PM, and check your internet for connectivity, (if you can play games on xbox live without issue then it's probably Microsoft, not you.
