A clean install? Just insert the CD and follow instrutions on screen. Make sure you have "boot from cd/dvd" selected in the BIOS. If not; if I'm not mistaken, you can push any key to boot from the cd. After the computer restarts to complete the install make sure you do not push any keys on restart . It will finish by it's self.Don't forget your product key. I also found 3 application and 47 driver updates for your Inspiron 1300/B130 on the Dell support page that you might be interested in. Be sure to install them in order. Good luck, I hope this helps. If I 'fixed ya' please rate me. You must reinstall your audio controller, or since you did reinstall windows XP on your system make sure that all the drivers for your inspiron 1300 is installed to make all your devices function properly on the system go to your manufacturers website and download all your driver from there.

find your service tag it will be asked in the drivers and download part of the website.

DVD appears as CD Drive

If you are using Windows XP, it cannot burn DVD's without a third-party program (e.g. Sonic, Ulead, Roxio, Nero, etc.)

I want the master bios password of labtop model inspiron 1300 Tag = 92ktd2j because i forgote the password

There are a lot of Windows password revealers and crackers available, but I’ve found that Windows Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
it not only supports XP, 2000, and NT, I have personally tested it with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. It works perfectly to reset any local user account to a blank password
You can use the ISO to burn a boot CD. Follow these instructions:
1. Download ISO file from http://www.windowspasswordsrecovery.com Windows Password Recovery Tool
2. Burn to a CD using a CD burning tool such as Nero or Roxio or MagicISO
3. Insert CD into drive and reboot.
4. You may have to select an option in the BIOS to get the computer to boot from the CD.
Booting up and clearing a password takes a minute or two works like a charm.

Ok my inspiron 1300 dvdrw drive isnt....

hah. last time i had this happen it was hardware failure on the cd/dvd drive... i hope this isnt the case!

these drives always have satisfactory drivers in windows itself. in your device manager, (control panel--> system-- hardware tab--device manager), does it show your drive in the right place? or is it below in the yellow question mark category indicating that there's a problem?

from your descrition, it sound a bit like you have a bad disk in there not a bad drive, but that's just a guess at this point.

in the device manager, if you "uninstall" your drive, on reboot, the drivers will be installed again ( I assume you have windows xp?). this may help refresh your drivers...

I remember in an older laptop, I upgraded to windows xp service pack 3, and it was that service pack that made my drive at weird, so i went back to sp2

Dell Inspiron 1300 trouble when burning Audio CD

Hi!

try this:

right click on "my computer"
Properties
Hardware tab
Device Manager button
click the + or plus sign on CD/DVD/CDRW drive
right click on your cd drive
click uninstall
click the + sign on IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
right click on each option
and uninstall all of them

*if you have not uninstalled everything, do not click on "YES" for restarting the pc. make sure you uninstall everything first then restart it.

*after the restart, just wait for all the devices to install by itself and wait for the message for another restart then restart the pc again.

after that, if the issue is still not resolved, the you need to find a firmware for the cd drive then if updating the firmware doesn't works, then I suggest to replace the optical drive or if the system still has warranty, call Dell Tech Support for replacement drive.

Hope this helps!

:)
