The usb for the psp is only for tranfering data not for charging you still have to plug the original power supply charger in when your psp is connected to your pc

My PRS-300 is not holding a charge nor syncing to my computer. Help please!

To charge a PRS-300, you need an AC-Adapter (wall plug) from a PSP console.
As for the syncing problem, you may need a new USB cord.

Can i charge a psp with a usb cable?

Sir, you are wrong!

Yes you can! For PSP 2000s & up, the normal USB Type-B cord will do!
For PSP 1000s, you'll need to find a 'special' rechargable USB cord! Try searching Ebay!

Next time sir... try getting your facts right! *nudge*

I am not able to start my PSP 3000 I am using a usb cord to charge the PSP, I am getting the hold light however not getting the power on please assist

When you connect the PSP via the USB, does the orange light power on? If you are using the standard USB cable and attached to the top of the PSP, from experience, it needs at least to have a little amount of battery power. If not, it will not totally power on or charge. You need the A/C adapter to charge the battery pack.

I can charge my PSP through USB cable even if its powered off. I'm using this one:

PSP Troubles - unknown device

Hi,

This is what you should do;

1. Restore your psp to factory setting.

2. If this does not solve the problem, then i guess you'll have to change the psp battery.

This should resolve the problem that you are facing with the psp right now.

Good Luck.

Chargind psp

If it’s the 2000 series (PSP Slim), then yes. Connect your PSP system to an available USB port on your computer. Turn on your PSP, then under “Settings“, select “USB Connection”. Your PSP should connect to your computer and start charging. It may take awhile, but it will charge it all the way. Hold the display button (The button with the rectangular shape at the bottom of your PSP) until the screen goes black. This will speed up the charging process and is a good method of prolonging battery life when listening to music or other things.

If that doesn’t work, try looking for an adapter lying around your house that matches the volt numbers. The PSP takes 5V. Most portable CD players use 5V adapters and are usually the same size as needed for the PSP. I suggest using an adapter that matches the volt number and fits without trouble. If the orange light doesn’t come on or the PSP acts weird after charging, I’d stop using the adapter. Ask me any questions if you have any. ;)

My psp wont charg

If it won't charge and wont power up then same thing happened to me. If you are willing to open up your psp there is a video on youtube that can show you whats wrong. The cable that connects the buttons on the right side most likely disconnected from the main board and the right side of the psp including the buttons, the power switch and the top right trigger won't respond. When you try to turn on the psp and when its charging if the light won't come on then you might have this problem.
