Thank you for your email. The problem must have been dust. I kept putting the cleaning disc in for quite a number of times. Thankfully the problem was simple and it is playing super.

it all depends on the CD's your using. some CD's will not play on some players. try DVD-R blank disc, this may make a difference. try one to see ! I ran into the same problem a while ago! it depends on the player itself, DVD-R 4.7GB data 16xspeed. this should work if player is compatable with it.
All you are required to do is to insert the disc into the player or changer and then set the player to the CD function. When the selected disc is loaded, then it would play and you can control the tracks. If it has been playing CD's for over 5 years (really reliable CD player.) then I'd think it's had it's life, it needs to rest now. Meaning it's dead so you either get a replacement or a get a new CD player.
Its dirty, try a disc cleaner, (brushes not solution) and if that does not work, its time to replace, (unless the radio is all ya want). ALSO- if you are trying to play burnt discs, (cd-r, mp3 discs etc) than that could be the issue as not all indash cd players support non store bought cds
First, you should never use commercial cleaners on CDs or cassette heads. They can create more problems than cures.
Unit may have bad disk motor or optical pick-up
