I have a Honda mini tiller FG-100. Haven't used it for a few months. It starts and seems to work fine but there is thick white smoke coming out. Is this a problem?
You need to check your engine oil on a very level surface.
Its all too easy to over fill these engines with oil and the results can spell disaster if not rectified. On a level surface, with the machine level (not tipped forward) the oil should just be reaching the top of the threads for the bung. Any more than that and you have to much in.
This symptom can also be caused of incorrect storage .ie the machine being left on its side allowing oil to fill the exhaust box.
Check your oil level first then run the machine until the left over oil in the exhaust box has been burnt off. I would then advise either replacing the spark plug with a new one or cleaning your existing one and checking / replacing your air filter
Agree with this solution. You also need to check for oil leaks typically from the front with the tiller tipped forward. For winter storage, you need to drain the gas and the oll. I also helps to remove the spark plug and replace it in the sprng. Also, you need to store this tiller standng straight up. I stored 2 years ago on it side and had all kinds of problems.. Last year. I did it straight up, and after adding fresh gas , new oil and a new spark plug, runs very well.
