I think convergence setting menu appears and then goes off because STK392-040 does not work.
Please check supplied volts to STK392-040 and make sure there is no bridge soldering on STK pins or any other points that you worked recently.
All connectors are intact/ plugged properly that were removed in repair work.
If you need further help, let me know problem with details as "I replaced STK392-040 covergence appeared then quickly left." does not help me to understand what is the problem.
Thanks.

You may have blown again the recently installed STK. Test continuity on the resistors at the base of the convergence ICs on convergence board.

You should check the contrinuity of the stk as well as others. Most often more than one goes at a time, or one right after the other.

Did you check the Resistors or replace any resistors (3.9 ohm Ibelieve)? If not look there first. Did you replace both IC's and what were the symptoms b4 you replaced them. By "covergence appeared then quickly left" do you mean the convergence was all good and then it went out again? Too much missing info reply to this or post again with more info and try to help.

The resistors are next to the Convergence IC's and 1 or 2 of them are usually blown if the IC's are bad - I've fixed at least 30 of these sets

My panasonic PT-47wxc43g projection tv has developed shrinkage in the middle of the screen on both the top and bottom. The picture has an hourglass on its side appearance. The picture is now also too large...

This could be a problem in the convergence board which will cost of repair would range 400.00 or so.
You can get the convergence repair kit at the following link which contains the parts and step by step detailed instructions.

Covergence

Yes. double check for bridged solder or open as well. If everything checked ok, disonnect the related convergence yoke and see if it fixes it (do this very quickly tho). dont let the set run more than a few sec! its a good idea to scope the output too.
gdluck!
