This can be caused by one of two things. (1) The GFI plug has a problem: it could be broken behind the face plate, or some of the wires in the box are so close that when you push a plug into the outlet, they touch and trip the GFI. (2) The other source is due to a defect in the appliance between the cord and the power switch. That is why the GFI faults even before it the coffee maker is turned on.

Have the outlet checked thoroughly and make any needed adjustments / repair /replacement and reconnect the coffee maker again. If it trips, the coffee maker will need to be serviced. DO NOT use the coffee maker in another non-GFI outlet until it has been checked out. The chances of electrical shock or burns is significant until the problem is found and corrected.

We unplugged our Bunn and left it unplugged overnight to do some painting. When we plugged it back in the light doesn't come on the warmer and the water does not heat.

The unit is not getting power. If the receptacle is protected by a GFI, then press the Reset button. Otherwise, check that the circuit breaker (or fuse) to that receptacle isn't tripped.

Purchase new 32'' tv 2-day ago, will not work in a GFI plug outlet trips GFI each time you reset, is there something wrong with unit? works fine in a non GFI outlet

Good News!!! GFI outlets are made to trip when a large amount of power is pulled through them. A GFI is basically a small circuit breaker.Your television set is probably just pulling more amperage than the GFI is rated to handle. That means the GFI is working properly And so is the TV!

How to fix a bunn coffee maker that trips a gfi

Every time I plug in my bunn coffee maker, it trips the GFI. But when I plug it into another plug in my kitchen, it will work, but it seems like the water reserve is not right. It blows too much steam and the top starts lifting up from the pressure of the steam, then it starts leaking out the top left side. Then if I pour enough water to make 10 cups, it only makes 6 or 8. The coffee maker is only 3 years old, what should I do?

None of the four burners will ignite when the gas is turned on. The electric igniters don't spark. The gas comes out and can be ignited with a separate butane lighter. I believe the electric power is on to...

Check that electric power closely. A boil over and attempted re-start or water (or other liquid) leaked / spilled into an igniter switch can trip your GFI outlet. Sometimes the outlet the cooktop is plugged into is fed from a GFI recepticle further " up stream " so you may have to look around to find a GFI which has tripped.

Keeps tripping gfi upon turning switch on. ruled out burner plate after disconnecting wire. element looks to be in one peace and no wires are exposed for dead short. anyone ever encounter same problem?

Hello. I have seen the tank heater not blown, however, it has a high resistance to ground through the water, replace it, and all is fine. You would need a good multimeter to test this problem, there must be a small crack in the sheath of the element, and is able to bleed a little leakage through the water, not enough for a normal outlet, but a gfi, no good.

Hope this helps, and thank you.
