DR 2050C I have the Canon DR 2050C scanner and when i scann black & white documents (binary setting) it doesn't scann the colored (dark portions that are in the border) parts of the page. For example I have a document that has a one inch darkend portion (its green) of the left side of the page. The scanned copy omits the entire dark 1 inch portion but scans the rest of the page. So the page comes out 1 inch less wide. This is not a problem in the color setting as the green portion is scanned.

Perform the head cleaner mantenace menu and feed roller cleaner then make a test print.

Check your brightness setting for backside. Ideally keep it automatic, else you can manually choose the right brightness.

If the scanner is scanning but stops after a few pages either it could be because of a) There is insufficient disk space (you need to delete unwanted files or direct the comp to store whre there is space) or b) the rubber rollers are not able to separate pages and feed the papers for scanning.(You need to change the rollers)

Do you get an error message after the first scanned image? If not, check your software settings to see if you have the option of single page /multipage scanning. Some software lets the customer choose a single page scan when the SCAN button is pressed.

Check the "Feed Select Lever" to make sure it is in mutifeed position. If not, it will grab all of the docs at once.

A color scan will give real output as it is. If the background is grey, the output will also be grey. If you select 256 Color output, there may be small change in color, as compared to the original. If you select grey output, all colors will be converted to Grey. If these files are converted to PDF, it will be same, except in ODF format.

If you select B&W you can save the file in TIFF format. Unlike grey or color, each pixel can be either black or white only. To scan in black and white you must select right brightness. By doing os you can eliminate background (technically noise) and capture foreground(data)

In the software, select 'multipage' option. (Check this box). The output will be collated and provided to you as a single file.
