    I have the same issue.

So far after Much web searches still no luck...
If No luck. I just may go for broke and start taking it apart and take step by step photos of the ordeal.

I have the same problem. The laptop just lights up the "Sleep" light. There is not even a BIOS POST. I have been unable to find any diagram or pictures of how to take this thing apart. Or, how to replace the RTC Battery.

Averatec's website and tech support are useless.

laptop will not power on. tried different power supplies but got not indication of battery charging. tried powering up without battery but got no results.

Tried giggling the power plug on laptop but still nothing.

when laptop was working, it did run hot.

question is, is there a reset button or hole on laptop?

A lot of the screws are hidden under little rubber plugs. By the time you get it apart, there will be about 25 screws. Be careful to sort them by size and get the same size back into the right hole.

7100 cmos battery location

Hi!

Ok, what you really want here is a service manual for the 7100. That would show you how to pull apart the case in order to get to the mother board (which is where the cmos battery is located).

After a bit of searching, it's proving hard to find. This link might be the next best thing though:
http://fatpenguinblog.com/scott-rippee/averatec-6200-laptop-deconstruction/

It's a deconstruction guide for a 6200. It will be very similar to your 7100. A word of warning to be careful of course - laptops are assembled with a lot of small parts & many small screws..so take your time & make a note of any variations to the 6200 guide so you can reverse the steps when you're done with the battery.

Hope this helps!

My averatec 7100 series laptop don't work. you turn the power on and the lights come on but you don't hear nothing and the screen is black.

I have the same problem with one of my 7100's I can get the screen to come on if I hold the delete key when powering on.Sometimes takes more than one try... and doesn't fix the problem. F2 will take you to the BIOS to see if it is detecting your hard drive. Hope this helps....
