I have a 42" LG LCD 1080p television and it's great. I've only had it 6 months but today I experienced a heatlhy glitch. While watching a show a box would pop up every 5-10 minutes that said "THIS FUNCTION IS NOT AVAILABLE". I thought maybe my son was pushing the remote buttons but no one had the remote. Then out of nowhere the volume popped up and prompty climbed to 100. It is currently stuck there. The TV does not respond to it's own remote let alone my time warner cable remote. I can turn the TV on from the side panel but cannot change channels or volume level. All I get is snow and an ear piercing 100 volume level blast of noise. Is anything wrong on the inside of the TV? I called LG who were no help. Any suggestions appreciated.
It's hard to diagnose without a model, but, given the problem I would say it is a 42LC7.
If it is, then, it needs a modification in the main PCB. We used to jumper coils at first, now we have to change the main PCB.
It's less than a year old, it's under warranty.

Leadtech thanks for the response. Sorry about not putting the model, it's 42LB5D. LG did give me the # of a servicer who is coming over next week. Would this happen to be something they can fix that day or would they need to order parts or take the TV with them? I only ask because we have family coming for Christmas weekend and if the TV will be out of service I can throw a quick replacement on the stand.
Thanks again, I really appreciate it.
I have the exact same problem on my LG 42LB5D TV. Problem is, it's over a year old and has worked PERFECTLY until last night.
If I have to pay for the repairs/parts, will it be very expensive?
