What happens if the R230 will not operate due to a general error and how can I make the printer can operate again

    the hardest part of repairing minor errors of our printer is TAKING IT APART! try this: you have to dis assemble your printer until you can see the bottom of your printer head...at the right part (facing bottom part of your printhead), clean the sensor thoroughly by using a soft bristled, 1/2 inch paint brush, until you think its clean...and of course you have to assemble it again...i think this may help you...i'm into deskjet printer services for quite sometime...

This is general error of the printer. When you have to change the new mother board you should be initialized it then it can be ready mode. When you try to initialization you need printer printer adjustment program. You can batter find out from google & write down EPSON Stylus R230 Printer Adjustment program or ink reseat program.

CD/DVD guide error
When turning on the printer or printing on paper, the CD/DVD guide is open.
Close the CD/DVD guide.

Carriage error
The print head carriage is obstructed by jammed paper or other foreign material and cannot return to the home position.
Turn off the printer. Open the paper support and the printer cover then remove any paper or other obstructions from the paper path by hand. Then, turn the printer back on.

Nothing at all of cyan and light-cyan?. It might be damage/broken micro pump at head or short circuit. Replace head or buy new printer.

Epson r230 general error
Blink alternately or not? If alternately, the message is not "general error". but "service required" It's true to reset waste ink counter. But, i think it's not service required. when trun on printer ready? But when start to print red lights blink at same time? Problem with chip at ink tank. Check connector at chip and at head carriage. It's may be dirty, and not good connection. try to use another chip.

Epson R230 steady 2 red light on.
It may be a general error. It is caused by cartridge error (won't read the chip), cartridge can't move back safely, or "something " slip to the mechanics. If u use the compatible chip (CISS), try to use the original chip first. The last action is turn off the printer for about 1 hour, and turn on back. It's for clearing eprom.
