The hot water did work for mine. Here is the solution I discovered:

After removing the food plunger and juicer cover: (1) Unscrew the 3 screws that hold the cutting blade plate in the center of the basket and lift off the cutting blade plate; (2) Unscrew the base counterclockwise (it will unscrew from the threaded center piece) and lift it up; (3) Lift off the basket and juice bowl. Now you can clean the basket and juice bowl.

To reassemble, reverse the process.

Juicer does not turn / rotate. Does this mean the motor is burnt out ?

It could mean burnt motor, but it could mean that it's simply got gunk in it, and it needs cleaning/lubricating. You'd have to take it apart to tell. A burnt motor has a very specific smell. If you take it apart, and there's no burnt smell, likely cleaning and lubricating will fix it.

How do you take it apart to clean it ?

It's really easy, you take down the metal bar and the top comes off, then you should see the orange mesh basket which is removed using your little tool - it's like a key which you turn to remove the basket - rinse under the tap - piece of cake.

HOW DO I GET MY JUICER APART TO CLEAN IT

I looked all over for the disassembly instructions for the JM300 to no avail...so I got a flathead screwdriver and decided I'd either get the darned blade out or break it for good. It took some prying but the blade popped out and it was the RIGHT way to handle it after all. Now everything is clean and ready to use again.

How to clean blade and screen

First thing you need to do is take it apart, which can be done pretty simply until you get to the actual blade and strainer. You will need to use the crescent tool, the one with two pins. Insert it in the blade, and turn it counterclockwise while holding the filter so it doesnt turn. All the parts should come apart easily.

i find the best way to clean these parts is using a small brush, not a sponge or rag.
