Changed out the cartridge on the Swingline 520e. It was working fine before but now does not staple. The machinery cycles & stamps but no staples. It seems the cartridge is not advancing. I have manually cycled thru the system several times. I have also cleaned the cartridge area of any loose staples. Still nothing. I have TWO of these machines with this same problem.
The trick to clearing this is to rn the stapler WITHOUT the cartridge in. We removed several visible jams, but once we ran it with the cartridge out, a huge piece of staple came out, and then we were able to put the cartridge back in and use it. Woot!
Try a new and different box of staples.
I have an old quite heavy duty Swingline stapler which is well engineered but would not shoot staples when I got it, despite no obvious blockages. I used some lubricant on the channel the staples fit in, and now it shoots fine. I used graphite powder, but be careful because this could stain things such as fabrics.
