Usually a jammed or bent staple in the throat at the end.

Please don't type in all CAPS, it is considered SHOUTING and is harder to read. Take the bin out. Lay it on its back. Use a vacuum cleaner with the round brush attachment to vacuum out all the dust playing particular attention to the sensor in the upper section. It is likely that you are having a mechanical problem with the stapler in this situation. Check to make sure the spring-loaded chute is open and not jammed in the closed position after making sure the stapler is empty of any staples. Try putting the stapler arm back into its resting position by applying pressure on it. If this doesn't work, you'll probably need to disassemble the stapler to find the problem and fix it.

Dont know what you are saying. Basically turn it off and on if your stuck.

They do this when they get dirty. There is a sensor that tells when it is full, the sensor gets paper dust on it and wont work in forward. You need to clean it real well. If that does not help then the issue is something else like sensor failure.

Yes you do need to oil the blades, but it is important to get the right oil. Most stores that sell shredders, like Staples Office Supply, also sell shredder oil. J.

My staples shredder model spl-616x would not turn on because I had set it in the receptacle backwards. The sensor was not engaged by the small protrusion of plastic inside one end of the receptacle. So simple, I wanted to share. Happy me!

Unfortunately, not a solution. I have the same problem and am looking for advice. I removed the bottom and verified the switch works, which it does. No lights go on when it is turned on. When it is in reverse, I can push a small lever on the bottom and it runs. Maybe I can feed the papers from the bottom. The lever on the bottom is a small raised black support with a tan bar inside which is what I press to get it to run. It does nothing in forward. Any advice is appreciated.

There is a small micro switch in the slot where you insert the paper, have a look and find it, it may be jammed with a piece of paper or bend. Wd40 might help
