  4. Press More or Right Arrow Key.
  5. Press Labeling.
  6. Press Directory.
  7. Press Extension.
  8. Dial the extension number that you want to administer.
  9. Press Enter.
  10. Press Drop.
  11. Enter the label information for the extension number selected.
  12. Press Enter.
  13. Press Exit or Back.
  14. Press Home or Exit to exit programming mode.
Note: When programming on the system programming console, use the buttons next to the display to specify the letters A through I and punctuation. Use the line/feature buttons to specify additional alphanumeric characters for labels. Use the template provided with the System Programming console to see which line buttons correspond to which alphanumeric characters,

SOURCE: Changing the names for extensions

Name changes are done from the System Administrators phone. In the TA-series, it's system program 604. In a TAW it's 004. I can give you complete instructions, but you have to get to that screen first.

If you get there and want to play, the SP Phone FWD CONF MUTE and keypad press up to 7 times enter the Alphabet names (space is under 1). Nothing writes until you press STORE.

SOURCE: Change extension name

System Admin access is available from any 7310 or higher model phone. You need a password and overlay..or a picture of what the buttons do in programming.

Go to control panel then go to folder option then click on view tab. On the list you'll find a option named "Hide extensions for known file type". Enable this option and click OK. Now you can rename your files easily.

How do I change the name display on my extensions

If you are using this phone on a Panasonic KX-TDA 30/100/200/600 system. From the Switcboard / Main telephone or Managers phone with the handset on the cradle/hook press Program * * or Program * # followed by the system password ( default is 1234). Now press 004 and then ENTER. Enter the extension number you want to change. Now enter the name (the same way as texting on a cellphone) To save the changes press AUTO DIAL / STORE. To go to the next extension press NEXT on the screen. When you are done lift the handset and put it down to exit program mode.

Cannot change name ID for each extension, shows old names

Read several on-line manuals and found out another way to access programming trees. It was a confusing mess and was mostly trial and error. The 4 keys under the read out screen are a key factor and knowing how those buttons interact with each other is important. In the process I screwed up regular functions because the password that allows set-up using the feature codes cannot be changed. Not a user friendly set-up at all and the initial manual virtually useless for some needs.
