That's because it's not there. Windows does not install this icon. If you want it, click on "Start" (lower left corner of your screen), then select "programs", then "accessories", then "entertainment" then right click on "sound recorder" and chose "send to desktop". You will then have an icon for the sound recorder.

Why cant i hear anything when i recored a video

1. Maybe your sound is off...
2. Bad speakers?
3. If you recorded, do you have a microphone?
4. Check your sound. Right click the sound icon in your taskbar and select recording devices. See if stereo mix is your default. What stereo mix does is record sound from your computer, not your microphone. Instead, set your microphone as the default recording device and try recording again.
5. If you are still clueless, and this is not working, you might have software issues, and need help from your OS provider.

I just bought a new gigaware earclip monoheadset with mic. the problum is i cant seem to get the mic working the sound works great but i just cant get that voice to work

Hello Mithmar hi, try setting the volume for your microphone, (i'm assuming you are using X P) to do this right click the speaker icon (or the mixer icon) on the lower right side of your screen, you will go to the volume controls section, goto options, then properties, select recording. check the microphone, then click apply/ok. On the mixer there is now the microphone slider. Test your microphone by loading the sound recorder program (start, all programs, accessories, entertainment, sound recorder, press the red button) then shout to the microphone, you should see wave patterns on the recorder, your microphone is working fine. at this point let me know your progress.

I cant get the inboard mic to work

First open the Run dialog box by pressing the "Windows" key and "R" Key combination simultaneously, then type "devmgmt.msc" and press the Enter key to the Device Manager.

In the Device Manager window, click on the plus sign next to the "sound, video and game controllers" category to expand it.

Next, right click on each of the devices that are listed under it, then click Uninstall. Please do check the box that says "delete Software Driver" before confirming the uninstallation. After uninstalling all the devices that are listed under the "sound, video and game controllers", restart the Computer.

After restarting the Computer, download the Sound driver from the HP website which is compatible with the Windows Operating System installed in the Computer.

After installing the sound driver, restart the Computer for the changes to take effect.

Then, click on the Start button, All Programs, and Accessories. Under Accessories, click on the "Sound Recorder" to launch it. Next, speak in the built-in Mic to record your voice, then save the recording. Now, play the saved recording to check if the MIC is working with the intergrated sound recorder Software.

PROBLEM WITH MICROPHONE

open up your windows sound recorder from Start - Program - Accesories - Entertainment. Hit the record button and talk or yell something if you would like. You should see recorded sound wave in the middle of your sound recorder. If you do not see the recorded waves this might mean that your microphone is turned off. To turn it on just Double click on the little speaker icon on your taskbar at the bottom right of your screen. The volume control window will open. Click on options then properties. Next check the small round recording button. Now make sure the microphone box is checked then click ok. Now a window will open that will show your microphone recording level. Move the slider up about half way and make sure to check the small "Select" box near the bottom of the slider. Open up sound recorder and try to record again. If this does not work you probably do not have a built in microphone. There are some very cheap external mics on the market that sound very good. If you are doing any serius recording you may want to invest in a USB microphone. The USB mic should come with it's own software and setup should be pretty simple. I hope I have been helpful.
