My Samsung LNT3253H LCD TV has suddenly started changing its own settings (e.g. picture mode keeps switching to ''dynamic'' and the ''light effect'' keeps setting itself to ''always on''). Any thoughts on how to stop this?

Hi,

Its in "Shop Mode".

Change your source to TV (analogue), now press menu>find "Plug and Play" and select it and runs through the setup and selct "Home" prompted and not "Shop".

That should sort its out, when its in shop mode its doesn't matter how many times you make changes, when you power it off it will go back to the original shop settings, this feature was built in to allow shops the have all show TV's to run at optimal settings and if a customer played about with the settings it would matter as they are reset again when the TV is switched off and the store staff don't have to go around resetting all the TV's at the end of the day.

Thanks

I notice my lcd brightness has reduce now this is 2 years old this problem remains same on Dynamic picture mode as well i have check this by connect to a pc and to a DVD using HDMI port...

hi,
First of all check the back light setting of your tv. you can see it on the picture setting menu.
Just check when you adjust the back light setting, is there is any change. if it changes and still not attaining the needed brightness level, then you have to check the back light inverter and the CCfL( cold cathode fluorescent lamp) used as back light. if there is no change in the black light, then the logic board or the inverter have some problem.
you have to check the inverter first is it getting the correct voltage from the power supply normally 24v.
if the voltage is ok , then u can do only one thing replace the inverter board to check whether the lamb have any problem. in normal case the inverter will become faulty. lamp fault is rare.

check all these. If you need further assistance fell free to contact me through fixya.

Picture Mode reverts always to Dynamic after several minutes

The set was a store demo, and the options were set so they could not be adjusted. On instruction from Samsung I pressed MENU and VOLUME buttons on the side of the set and hold for 7 seconds The display reverts to Standard from Dynamic. The Remote Options button showed Store Demo, but now shows Standard. All memory functions seem to function now. Thanks for your help.

if it's still in warranty, call 1-800-samsung and report it, other wise you need a main board or there could be a firmware upgrade on samsung web site that could fix it

Picture setting regularly changes to dynamic from standard

You need to change the option throgh the service mode.
You can not access that mode without permission from Samsung.
better to contact Samsung call center.

Poor picture

Dynamic mode will give you a brighter picture. The energy saving mode runs the lamp at a more efficient level that saves energy at the cost of a slightly darker picture. Based upon your description, I'd guess that the lamp is nearing the end of its useful life. Plan on changing the lamp soon. When you do so, place the set back to standard mode and energy saving.

Samsung LE46F8 picture setting

It sounds like your TV is in Shop Mode.
Shop mode is a set of picture parameters that have been optimized for a store showroom or display floor. Shop mode does not allow you save any picture settings such as brightness or contrast.
To get the TV out of Shop Mode press and hold the Menu button on the front panel for three seconds, the picture will blank momentarily then reappear with “Dynamic Mode” shown on the screen. At this point the picture parameters can be changed and saved.
