How can I solve the problem ** tamper ** in Verifone Vx510?
Verifone has a built in safe-guard against tampering. There are certain things that can cause the new Vx Series of terminals to display this error - from someone actually tampering with the terminal, to a physical drop or jarring of the terminal.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the ONLY way for a terminal to be unlocked when displaying "Tamper" is to send it into an authorized service center. I have many of these devices in the field for customers and have dealt with this issue a few times - unfortunately, that's the only way Verifone set it up for this error to be resolved.
Sorry for the bad news, but hope it helped!

We use the Vx570 and are seeing this quite regularly. Has anyone heard of software causing this tamper condition? We wrote our own software for the terminal so I need to rule that out first before I figure out where to go next.
which kind of tamper...like this**TAMPER** (blinking/flashing) tamper error?and how many VX570 teminals are showing this error?

could you give me the address for those authorized service centers
Just go to tasq.com and they can remove the tamper issue. The other poster (psoftware109) is just trying to confuse things and get business. The tamper error is a singular issue (not multiple different kinds of "tamper" errors) and is caused by a poor design flaw. The fix is a simple replacement of the device memory battery, but unfortunately cannot be done outside of an authorized service center. We've been using Tasq for years and their service is fantastic.
BTW... that is the MAIN cause of the **TAMPER** error... internal battery died of old age or (more commonly) a power surge. As these devices age, this problem is almost a guaranteed occurance at some point in their later life. It's just a poor design flaw and not an actual tampering of the device. Verifone has acknowledged this problem and the new Vx series have eliminated the issue.
my verifone vx510 says "security alarm tampering detected [04000] please reboot". and it sounds beeeeee. What can I do? [email protected]

I have a team vx520 post, problem with tamper 04 What causes it? could you help me
I agree with all the solutions, system battery and the multiple sensors inside the machine are the reason for the tamper to appear. But sometimes the plastic casing also causing the problem. Then after doing all that, reloading the Verifone Test software will finish the job. If still needs help about this maybe we can help. call (775) 358-2922 and look for randy. thanks
