I need to re-record the directory listing for our phones because people have left and new people have come in. I cannot figure out how to do this. The User Guide just explains how to manually punch in someones name for the directory, not record it using your voice. Please help.

It sounds like what you are looking for is to rerecord the AutoAttendant. This is a VoiceMail function, which is a separate card or box connected to the PBX cabinet. Check the manual for your voicemail on how to login as admin, or call the local Vodavi tech for a service call.

I've got a Panasonic KX-T7433 phone that I need to change some of the voice mail options for. The voice mail currently states that if you want to hear the directory list, press 5. I need to update that...

Not as easy as that :-)

The Panasonic TD phone system has a Panasonic brand voice mail, probably, plugged into the system. From the age, probaby a TVS (USA) something. Menus for the auto attendant come from Custom Service files. There are 100 of them in the system. If I had installed it, your "5" would be stored in CS 35, but I didn't do it.

The easiest way is to find the notes from the installer. The second easiest is to connect to the serial port and read the setup. The 3rd, and the one you're probably going to have to do is to log into mailbox 998 and choose option 5 then 3 (IIRC) to review CUSTOM SERVICE greetings. You'll start at 1 and it will play the greeting. "*" back steps and you just keep going through the messages until the right one shows up. Then you press 1 to change it, record the new menu, and press 1 to stop recording and 2 to accept the changes.

After you find the model number (on a silver plate of the TVS, you can go here to get a manual:

Change/record the Directory Options on M7310

Can you get into the voicemail?
If you cannot get in, there are ways to erase the current password, back to the default password of: 0 0 0 0

If you can get in; after you dial your Password, press 8 and listen to the prompts.

There will be a prompt to change your name, one for your password and another for greeting.

Need to re-record the directory

you need to know where or what mailbox the directory is recorded in. If you are using the generic one that does spell by name, than you cannot change it. You need to have the new employees setup their mailboxes and add themselves to the directory. ldtsnj.com

Message tones and vibrate facillity

To change the vibrate function:Go to main menu, phone settings, phone profiles, highlight the 'normal' one & press the 'options' soft key to the left of the touch screen keypad. Pick 'edit', then the 'call alert type' will be highlighted. Press the left soft key saying 'options' & select 'change'. You can then opt for it to vibrate by highlighting the vibration one & pressing the tick on the touch screen bit. Then don't forget to save the changes!
To Change the ringtone:
  1. From the standby screen, press Menu (Figure 1).
  2. In the main Menu, press Settings (Figure 2).
  3. In the Settings menu, select Phone profiles and press (Figure 3).
  4. You will be presented with a list of phone profiles for different situations and environments. The one you're currently using will be ticked. Highlight the one you want to use (in our example, Normal) and press the Edit button at the bottom of the display (Figure 4).
  5. You are taken into the profile settings (Figure 5). At the top of the list you'll notice three tab icons - these represent (from left to right), ringtone, message alert, and keypad sounds. You can switch between settings for these by tapping one of the tabs.
  6. You should be taken first into the ringtone settings list. Should you want to change the Call alert type (from melody to vibration then melody, for instance) tap this option and scroll through the list of options to choose the one you want.
  7. To change the Voice call ringtone, tap this option on the screen. You will be taken into a list of phone file folders from which to choose your ringtone (Figure 6). You can tab across to view files stored on a memory card, if you have one installed.
  8. Press the Sounds option. You now have the choice of choosing from yourMusic files, Ringtones that are loaded onto the phone, or My voice clips(clips you have recorded) (Figure 7). You can select from whichever of these folders you want - the setting procedure is the same for each. In our example, we'll choose from our Music folder to select one of our tunes as the new ringtone.
  9. Press the Music option. A list of tracks appears (Figure 8). Tap the one you want in order to highlight it (Figure 9). Press Options, then tap on theSelect menu option to install it as your ringtone (Figure 10).
  10. You are now taken back to the Normal profile settings, where the Voice call ringtone has changed (Figure 11). To save this change, press Options and then Save (Figure 12). Alternatively, press Back and you will be asked whether you want to Save?. Press Yes.
In the ringtone settings menu, you can also change the video call ringtone (which is lower down the menu) by following the same procedure.

Enable Custom Messages

It's hard to see what you recorded the custom messages on, since you left that part out.

I'm guessing that whatever you recorded the messages on has a manual. Try reading it. Is your day greeting a custom message or is it one of the 32 announcements? However you play that message, you need to either replace it, or assign a new message or mode to the auto attendant.

NEC DTU-8D wiping the directory list

If it is in the system speed dial directory you have to go one by one and type "Feature, Redial, bin # where it is stored (system 00~79, station 80~99), Feature". This should wipe each Speed Dial listing.

If it is in the voice mail unit you may want to go phone by phone and log into the box. You will need to redo the following:

Personal Greeting
Recorded Name
Spelled Name
Directory Listing
Security Code

All these options are listed in each mailbox through a series of soft keys. Let me know if you need more info.

Recording music

The phone has a Voice Record feature, but I think it's only for a couple of seconds of audio for the voice dialling feature.
Anyways, go to Menu > Office Tools > Voice Records and press the Voice button, located on the right-side of the flip display.
