Canon hv 40 cannot import video to the computer

Hi!! I bought a new canon hv40. I also bought the i-link cable. WHen its connected to the computer, the computer reads it but its not able to import video. When I connect it to the laptop, an auto play thing comes up. I am pressing import. Its going me options where to save. I am leaving those stuff to default. So the imported videos go to my videos. Till here its fine.
When I press play or fast forward in the computer, it works fine with the camcorder also responding accordingly. But when I try to import video it won't. It says it can't import video and the tape is blank.
Sometimes all I get is a beep sound from the computer saying that the cam is connected but the auto play wont start.
Tried in premiere pro cs4 and it can't capture the video too...Thanks a lot.

I would like to transfer the videos taken from the Canon DC-51 to my laptop so that I can edit the videos. Could you tell me how this can be done? I'm using a USB cable to connect the camera to the...

Hi, the Videos can be imported directly by connecting the Camcorder to the USB port of the Computer.

Windows 7 directly imports the Video from the Camcorder, if the Camcorder is not detected in the computer then it requires Drivers which will be available from the Camcorder manufacturer website.

The imported Videos can be edited with Windows Movie Maker application which is pre-installed with Windows 7.

I have a Canon 7.4V video camera and want to connect my camera to the computer. How do I do that?

Instructions:
  1. Connect an i.LINK (firewire) cable (also known as IEEE 1394) to the i.LINK port on the digital camcorder.
  2. Connect the other end of the i.LINK cable to the computer. NOTE: The computer i.LINK ports and capture cards may have either 4-pin or 6-pin connections. If your computer only has a 6-pin i.LINK port, then it will be necessary to use a 4-pin to 6-pin i.LINK cable.
  3. Turn on the digital camcorder by moving the POWER switch to the VTR position.
  4. Cue the camcorder tape to the beginning of the video footage.
  5. Turn on the computer. Your computer should recognize your camcorder and automatically install the needed driver.
  6. Start the video capture software on the computer.
  7. Begin playing the recorded video in the camcorder.
  8. Begin importing the video with the capture software. It should now be possible to copy the video using the video capture software if the computer hardware and software are configured correctly.
Hope this has helped you.

I need to import video from my canon zr500 to my pc

Hi!

You can import videos from your camcorder to your PC using a DV cable. Check this page from the user guide of your camcorder.

Basically, you need a firewire port and a DV cable. Most computers (new ones) already have firewire ports (or 1394 ports).

I hope that helps.

Good luck and have a nice day!

Canon vixia hv 30 not recognized by computer

This camcorder uses USB for pictures only. To access pictures, plug in USB cable, set the camcorder to Play and to Memory Card.

To transfer video you need a firewire cable and card. Actual cable will depend on connection your computer has, typically it will be something like this: FireWire_cables.jpg

Additionally, to transfer video you will need a video capture software and codecs, unless the software has the codecs (Nero does). Unfortunately all free video editing software I tried was unable to deal with HD. I had various levels of success with Windows Movie Makver, Ulead and Nero.

You may want to record video in non-HD, and see if you are able to capture that. If your computer can capture that but not HD, and you have the codecs installed, you will need to investigate your computer.

If all you need is a codec, here is a good free candidate: K-Lite Mega Codec Pack

It is of course very frustrating that Canon would include nothing with the camcorder to assist users with video caputure.
