When you unhooked the battery it should've reset itself automatically. You may have to go in the trunk and reset the airbag control switch if the rear airbags don't air up on their own.
Unhook the battery for two minutes on the negative side, then hook it back up. It will take a complete drive cycle for the computer to "relearn" everything, which takes between 45-60 miles of driving.
There should be a large red wire going to your fuse box under the hood. You can put it there. You can unhook your battery also your computer should be fine. Think about it if everytime someone changed a bad battery they would have to go to dealer not true. What you have heard some older cars the computer can be reset by removing the negative. I take the positive off all the time on cars your age and have never had any problems
Do you want to know if the airbag was disabled or if the sensors were disabled? But basically, if the impact was from the side or rear, the airbag won't deploy. If the impact was from the front and went over the front bumper, again, the airbag wouldn't deploy.
unhook the negative cable for an hour and hook it back up,should reset the computer,if its still there. maybe a couple of fuses blew,or he unpluged something or broke some wires.do a thurough visual inspection in the aera he was working, especially around the battery terminals.hope you find it ,let me know aloha from maui todd0708
The side impact air bag in the door? Unhook the battery. Wait 5 minutes, then unbolt it and unplug it. It will be fine. Don't hook up the battery with the air bag unplugged to test the window, it will set a trouble code and the air bag light will be on until you go to the dealer and have it reset. Just make sure before you hook the battery back up the airbag is bolted back in place and plugged in.
if you have an anti-theft radio option, when you disconnect the battery you disable the radio. there is a code you need to activate so this does'nt happen, but you must do it before you disconnect the battery. by taking the truck to a dealer, he will use the VIN number and the radio serial number to get the reactivation code from the GM tech service computer bank----------just another example of the useless **** GM puts on their vehicles and costs their customers more money and time.
first re check the connection then to reset the computer take the positive cable from the car off the battery and give it 3-5min
to discharge then touch the positive cable from the car to the negative
cable (still attached to the battery) for about 5 seconds and then hook
back up the positive post and that will reset the computer.
if that doesnt take the code off (turn the light off) then the connection is bad that you unhooked or there is a cut in one of the wires you unhooked or you shorted it out when you put it back together and you my need a new one.
did you unhook the battery before you changed the starter ?. regardless unhook the battery for about ten minutes to reset the computer on your car then hook it back up.... if you have an anti-theft stereo make sure you know the code and how to enter it first.
