Onkyo TX-SR605. A friend gave me this receiver to see if I could fix. This is my first receiver that I have ever looked inside of.
Problem: Super low audio from any speaker on any channel including zone 2. By super low I mean you have to turn the volume to the max and put your ear to the speaker.
Additionally, I have noticed that the small heat sink attached to the rectifiers on the board that all of the audio in/out as well as speakers outputs are on gets very hot very quickly.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to start looking?

The only remote that will definitely turn the sat subtitles on/off is the sat remote. The other subtitle buttons on the other remotes refer to the DVD subtitles and the subtitles generated by the tuner in the tv. The subtitle option is greyed out on the tv because you are not on the tv tuner.

Channel level output can be adjusted in the menu if you have the remote. Set the rear channel level volume higher and the fronts lower if need be, and then turn up the volume. Enjoy!
SOURCE: cant find universal remote code for the onkyo tx-sr605
Your onkyo receiver and remote controller only decodes 4 digit codes so what you have to do is to call the manufacturer of the remote controller it self and ask for the hexa decimal codes for their remote. They should provide it to you coz they're the ones responsible on doing that.
