The problem is that the convergence board needs to be rebuilt. The board is located up and to the left looking in the back of the unit. It has two large Sanyo stk392-040 amps mounted to it and a grouping of 3.9 ohm 1/2w fp resistors in the yoke return circuit out in front of the amps. It's likely one or more of these will also need to be replaced.
If you're going to attempt this yourself you need to be VERY good at soldering and desoldering and toy should have a good VU meter to check the resistance and tolerance of the components out in front of those amps... Also think about adding a fan to the face of that board with a 9v regulator operating off the 20v +/- line feed. This will substantially keep the amps cooler and less likely to short out again.
If you would like to justa have this done our shop rebuilds these units for $225.00 dollars which includes shipping back to you...
Hope this helps!

Multiple vertical color lines,i take the picture, how can i send you this photo?

There are two ways you can do this.

1. post the image to a site like photo bucket or flicker and post the link here
2. next to the You Tube on the top of the post reply window click the image. This will open a window. Browse to where you have the image saved and click it. This will insert the image to your reply.

Setting color and focus inside case

The only way to do that is by eye. To Adjust the screen controls the best thing to do is turn them all down then slowly adjust one up until you get retrace lines (arched lines across the tv) then turn it down until the lines re not visible then go about 1/4 turn more, repeat this for the 2 remaining colors, after that its just done to eye for the best color. if you are still having trouble getting the color right you can go in the menu to the video settings and turn the color all the way down then you will have a black and white picture and you can adjust for a perfect black and white picture then turn the color back up in the menu.
As for the focus controls its best done by covering 2 of the tubes so you only have one color on the screen then adjusting to the best looking focus for that color. then repeat this for the other 2 tubes.

Picture problems

OK to help assist everyone having the BLUE HUE and CURVED LINES Issue on their Rear Projection HDTV no matter their model. Here are the steps to take. The first thing to check is the FOCUS BLOCK or G2 Focus Transformer or CRX F-Pack. I have replaced mine, however it didn't resolve the issue. I am onto the next item the CRT Board for Blue (Which is the board under one of the three color lamps inside your tv) Please see photo below (if photo is not large enough below go to link to review notes as well) If the CRT Board is not it, then the next step will be the Signal Board which is a larger board in the back. In a week I will have a picture of both.

INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Remove the outside cover
  2. Remove the wood plank/panel
  3. In the front is the G2 Focus Block/Transformer, while set is on turn the top 3 knobs till the screen goes black/dark grey.
  4. adjusting the colors till you receive the desired or normal color/picture.
  5. Once you have received the proper color/picture tap the side of the Focus Block.
  6. IF The colors go out of wack again and the blue comes back strong then this "CAN BE" the Focus Block.

Replace the G2 Focus Block aka Focus Transformer, if Hitachi it's called a CRX F-Pack. This item will cost about $50. Not expensive. You will likely need a soldiering iron. DO TURN OFF & UNPLUG THE TV WHEN INSERTING ANY METAL OBJECTS INTO THE TV!!

FOLLOW THE PHOTOS/DIAGRAM in link below for assistance in the above instructions. I will post my next process since it was not my Focus Block that was an issue.

AKAI PT5598HD

Your set has what is know as "convergence problem" because of the bowed lines and ghost in different colors,is really not an easy solution, the set should have 3 amplifiers(one for each color)and they need to be replaced with an exact replacement, sometimes just by replacing them the aligment should be close but soemtimes you nned to get into the service menu to do some adjustments, the amps(IC's) are mounted on heat sinks and all 3 have the same part number on its face, they normally read STK--- ---,every set uses different amps,If you are familiar with tv service you have now a place to start working but if you are not too familiar be safe and call for help from a servicer.Let Us know if you need more information.
