AVR 1508 Reciever Setup Issue

Just bought new AVR 1508 Rec and trying to run DVD, Cable/Dish video and audio through the 1508. Connection to monitor is through HDMI. When i connect DVD only audio comes and in case of cable/dish no video/Audio. I want to connect DVD, Cable and VCR directly to 1508 and connect to monitor just using HDMI. But it is not working. Any suggestions?

AVR 1508 doesn't upconvert. Only components coming in on HDMI will go out HDMI.

Ok so the issue is that after i have ran a hdmi cable from reciever to monitor, and 2 hdmi inputs (dvd and video2) into the reciever where im running a ps3 into the video2 port and foxtel/satellite tuner...

Try this, although recivers have video pass through, it is not the best option for video to your monitor. Depending on what you have for input/output on your TV/monitor, and, if you can, you should run all your video components directly to TV via(best)HDMI(video and sound) or, component and digital optical(best) or RCA, Then run digital optical out from you TV out to receiver in. You can use your monitors menu to chosse what you view and only have the onr input to you reciever. ASll you have to do then is go through you recievers menu to get the audio. Less connections less hassle. In other words, you would run your sat tuner to tv inputsat or cable, then dvd to dvd, PS3 to video 1 etc., on TV/monitor, then the single audio output to reciever.

Trying to connect HP M9060N and Sharp Aquos through Denon AVR 1508, only get 'no signal' response. Have HDMI 1 set to DVD, HDMI 2 to AUX, HDMI 3 to TV, which is order of HDMI outlets on receiver.

Depending on your TV inputs, you are better off to run video componenets through TV first then, connect TV to reciever via digital optical. Recievers have video pass through but, noyt the best route. You can use TV's menu to choose what you watch and, only have the one output from TV to reciever. Make sure you scan through TV and reciever menus to make sure you are selecting the right channel.

No video on Denon 1508

Coax-2 is audio. Where's the video from the cable tuner coming into the Denon?

Why don you need the cable to pass video through the Denon on iuts way to the TV anyway? Interconnnects rarely add value.

PS3 setup to Denon AVR 2807 & Samsung LCD

Azahid

Since you are running the to LCD monitor instead of a LCD TV this is where you run into the issue. because the monitor is not setup to pull out the audio from the HDMI connection. So there is a few ways that you maybe able to to this.

The first one is look around at the different output cables out there the PS3. (I just got one so I do not know the accessories that are out for the PS3) This is becoming a common setup so if Sony does not have cable that will split off the audio then a 3rd party group may. I know they have one like that for the XBOX 360.

Another you can try is if your monitor will except an analog connection you may need to go that way. That is how I have my XBOX 360 that is my room connected. I have a RBG HD to VGA connect the VGA input on the monitor and the audio going to my sound card.

The reason why I suggested going analog is that right with our curent technology that if you are run with the 2 formats at the same time you will get audio/video sync issues. So you need to go all analog or all digital.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions on this and/or need me to clarify anything.

Denon AVR 588 7.1-- Sound setup questions

This reciever does not decode the audio through HDMI, the HDMI ports are simply a pass-through. To get audio you need to connect an optical audio cable from the PS3 to the reciever also. I figured this out after 2 hours of trying to get audio from the HDMI cable. Here is a link that shows the different audio formats supported through HDMI by the different Denon models. It looks like the AVR-788 is the lowest model that supports audio through HDMI. Hope that helps.
